gekker Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 I've been trying to get a new instance for Skyrim SE working. I've played on LE for years but wanted to try some of the newer (to me anyway) mods. This is Day 3 and I am probably experiencing a lot of the pain people that made the transition went through years ago, all at once.? I have the steam version so had to get the AE 1.6.x exe but rolled it back with a rollback patcher mod to make sure as many SE mods are compatible as possible. Anyway, I keep getting to the point where I try to install CBBE and the game CTD's after logo. SKSE works fine, all the various fixes work fine before that point. My main confusion is that the old LE texture and meshes install folders are gone, I read that everything is in the Meshes BSA. My questions are: 1) When I build a body using Bodyslide, I read that I am supposed to write to the game folder for the female .nif files. But since those folders don't exist, should I be selecting another location? The dialogue window says it successfully writes the files, but I don't know where they are going. 2) Similarly, when I install enhancer, where are THOSE meshes (Vanilla Armor, Faces, Skin Textures) going? I've watched various guides and reproduced their steps, but I can't seem to get this up and running and would welcome any help or direction to someplace I can get a more in depth guide for setting this up.
Dorabella Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Since you looked , does it look like Skyrim SE technical support ?? Not to me, this is dedicated to Sexlab support not Bodyslide support After 108 posts, you are expected to know where to post messages.

Interesting hypothesis, but no. The original game files are always packed in BSA files. Mod files can be BSA or loose folders. CBBE, Bodyslide and so on are loose files. 1 hour ago, gekker said: 1) When I build a body using Bodyslide, I read that I am supposed to write to the game folder for the female .nif files. If you're using MO2 all your mods files will be outside of your default game installation. Bodyslide and any other program that requires your other mod files to work will need to be run through MO2. The install process is really simple and quick. Step by step instructions can be found even in video format (example for Bodyslide, you can do a similar search for MO2 + FNIS, xEdit, Creation Kit, etc. and find results). Once you do that and use Bodyslide all the generated files will be created in MO2 (usually in the same folder if the file already exist in a mod, or in Overwrite if it's a new file, from there you can move it into its own mod or to the corresponding mod folder. I wrote an entire guide about MO2 if you're interested in that (linked in my signature, along some cool threads to get SE compatible mods). 1 hour ago, gekker said: 2) Similarly, when I install enhancer, where are THOSE meshes (Vanilla Armor, Faces, Skin Textures) going? Anyway I'll try again using the guides you recommend. I might have messed it up pointing Body Studio at the actual game directory for the female nif Build.
gekker Posted June 1, 2023 Author Posted June 1, 2023 Okay so I have attempted again using the enclosed Sexlab installation guide. I have also watched multiple tutorials on how to setup CBBE and have explicitly outputted all exported textures and meshes to the local Mod Organizer overwrite folder. I have also double checked my version of skyrim, skse, and made sure they are compatible. 1.5.97 Skyrim Special Edition. Before installing CBBE, after Bodyslide/Outfit Studio the game will launch to the Title Screen. At the stage of installation where I attempt to install CBBE, the meshes, and the textures, the game CTD's shortly after the logo. I have followed multiple guides and am using the overwrite folder of MOD Organizer for the meshes and textures, and double checked the MODs I create from those output to see if the content is there. I am at a loss for what could be causing this. My first instinct would be to try an older version of cbbe, but I can't find a pre AE, Skyrim SE version to download, but the mod page says this shouldn't matter. Any help, thoughts, next steps, would be appreciated. Guide MO2 & Other Tools.pdf

Start with only racemenu, XPMSE, and CBBE (you have lots of weird looking files there, the latest version is CBBE 3BA which is the one you want for CPBC & SMP). If you can get the game to start with just that and have the CBBE bodies, then add CBPC and Faster HDT SMP. If you get a CTD with just CBBE, racemenu, and XPMSE then something is seriously wrong and you may as well delete everything and start over. When you have those installed run Bodyslide (go to data> caliente tools and add the file as exe. Choose the preset you want and batch build the bodies/outfits. That will write to you overwrite folder, right click on overwrite and crate a new 'bodyslide overwrite' mod or just move the files to bodyslide. If you're on the latest update you need to be using Anniversary Edition files, you don't need crash fixes, you should be using AE racemenu, you shouldn't have two different XPMSE mods.

Thanks for the reply! I ultimately got a solution elsewhere that has nothing to do with what I thought was causing the issue. The culprit was that my Mod Organizer was EXTEREMELY out of date. Simply updating that to the latest version fixed the issue. It ended up not being CBBE at all, just my version of Mod Organizer that worked with LE, couldn't handle SE. Just sharing that in case it helps someone else as a possible solution. 1
