Nvidia Upscaling - CLOSED

This topic is closed.

PC player, 21:9 4K monitor. 2080ti 11GB RAM. Skyrim AE, Ruby ENB. Mods.

I tried doing Upscaling and the result was crap with zero FPS gain.  Since loads of people are raving about it, I assume I got it wrong?

This is what I did, following the footsteps of videos and walls of text:

Nvidia Settings Manager, set Image Scaling ON for Skyrim, chose sharpness of 20%

SkyrimPrefs.INI, selected the new resolution 2924x1224          (85%)

SSEDisplayTweaks.ini:

[Render]

Fullscreen=false

Borderless=true

BorderlessUpscale=true

Resolution=292x1224

ResolutionScale=0.85

Result - something that looked like a TV screen from the 1960s.  At an upscaled lower resolution I got a black vertical line in the centre of the pic.

Since everyone says what a wonderful thing it is, have I messed up?  Grateful for any hints.

Thanks!

Yeah. I would highly recommend to use Skyrim Upscaler mod instead. Make sure to grab the ENB compatible version on the author patreon or by "other mean". It work great for me. Although I use AMD card and FSR 2 is not as good as DLSS when it come to upscaling.

 But if you still want to use Nvidia Image Scaling then skip the SSEDisplayTweaks.ini thing. What you need to do is go to Nvidia control panel and enable Nvidia Image Scaling. Now a bunch of new resolution will be available. Open Skyrim launcher and set a resolution lower than your native resolution. In your case is 3840 x 2160?. The game will now run at lower resolution and upscaling to 3840 x 2160.

Thanks.

I tried DLSS and got nowhere with it. Just a blank screen.

Nvidia Image Scaling

I'm already doing that. The results are trash.

I'm beginning to wonder if this is just a fad.  I tried the Skyrim Upscaler mod, got the correct DLLs including the Nvidia one linked off the pages and all I get is instant CTD. It doesn't work with ENB, and there is no link provided to a Patreon page any more.

I can't be bothered with this any more.  Thanks anyway for your help!

from your post:

Resolution=292x1224

its a typo right? That is too low resolution to be possible. You should set it to 1080p or 1440p and then upscale to 4k.

and the patreon page is here. The nexus version does not support ENB, of course its instant CTD.

Yes, it's a typo. It should read  2924x1224 as per the line above.

Many thanks for the Patreon Link!

This isn't working for me. It's either a CTD or a black screen with audio and menus. And that's with the test ENB dll.

Folks, thanks for your time. This is not worth pursuing.

Cheers!

Did you set the game to run in borderless window screen? it will not work at full screen. I think its worth pursuing since you have 2080ti and DLSS can do wonder in Skyrim.
