Invisible Armor after changing Slot (32 -> 60) with zedit and nifSkope

As a bloody casual i just got into zEdit and Nifscope a bit more and successfully changed a armor piece that occupied "Body" and "Feet" to just beeing feet, tinkered a bit around, realised how easy it is to apply heels sound to whatever and got a bit more into it.

From there on i wanted to change a Armor (chestpiece) to a different slot so i could use a different chest piece with it. But when i did, the armor was invisible ingame. The slot was changed ingame, at least. (It wasnt shown as "Armor" any longer but instead with "-" and it was equippable, but invisible)

Thats the particular armor iam trying to change:

Steps i did:

1. open zedit, selected just the merge where c5kev's is in.

2. selected the desired chest piece and changed "Biped Body Template" -> "First Person Flags" from "32 - Body" to "60 - unnamed"

3. Did that in "Armor" and repeated the process in "Armor Addon"

4. Save and exit

5. Opened Nifskope, selected the desired .nif from the mods meshes folder

6. Now i was a bit struggling because the guides i've found showed it with just one "BSTriShade", but there is 2 of them.  "Tentacles [31]" and "Bones [32]"

7. i changed just partitions -> body part to 60 in the first BSTrishade. (Tentacles)

8. Saved and invisble ingame.

I then reverted everything from slot 60 to 32 again and its working (at least as a chest piece/default )

So, before i start to roast my game i thought i ask for assistance here.

There is numerous questions that came up...

Can you change a Chestpiece just like that? (Because bodyslide is required to build it)

Do i need to rebuild in Bodyslide, change something there? I feel like rebuilding may be a thing? As i mentioned, iam a bloody casual but feel like i may overlook a major part with bodyslide.

Is there particular slots that dont work if other mods use it or if they are a chest pieces? If so, is there any way to check what slots are occupied?

Is a merge causing troubles when editing slots? (i have a merge with a bunch of armor mods in it, including this one)

When there is multiple "BSTrishade", do i have to change all of their partitions?

Probably commonsense for some here, but iam just stepping in to that the first time. Any help, hint or lead is aprecciated! ^^

A few potential issues may be happening.

First, are you looking at the armor in 1st or 3rd person?  There may be separate 1st and 3rd person meshes that need editing, and slot 60 is invisible in 1st person unless the race record is changed.

Did you change both the _0 and _1 meshes?  If your PC is weight 100 or weight 0, then you can get away with changing just one, but otherwise they have to both be in agreement for things to display correctly.

You mentioned that part of the item has slot 31 as well?  Make sure that the armor addon still has that slot indicated.

Lastly, to resolve if it is a slot masking issue, make copies of the nifs, then right-click "BSDismemberSkinInstance" in each NiTriShape and select "convert -> NiSkinInstance".  This loses skin data for the objects, and makes them display regadless of slot usage (so long as the armor and armor addons are both correct).

Another possible cause, did you edit the nif that Bodyslide uses or the nifs that Bodyslide generates? If you edited the Bodyslide source, did you remember to build it so that the nifs the game actually uses have the right slots?

Swoop, that was it.

Thanks so much! I knew my belly was right when i felt like overlooking a major part with bodyslide afterwards.
