GenericFNISforUsers won´t start

Hey LoversLab people

 

I am facing a little..or major problem with the above mentioned .exe.  I can´t run it as my current .NET Framework (4.5) produces an error named CLR-Error: 80004005 and I can´t install the needed Framework 4 (which produces an error during installation and then abborts)

 

My question is....do you know a solution to this problem or is the use of GenericFNISforUsers.exe essential to get the framework and the animations to work?

What does the error message say exactly? Screenshot it and post it here please.

Running GenerateFNISforUsers.exe is mandatory.

If it helps -

I was having similar problems as pabed - CLR error 80004005 when running the generator. Kept attempting to repair .NET (only 4 was installed), and the repair would fail due to a vague "fatal error." Uninstalling and reinstalling also did not help, and I would get the same CLR error and .NET repairs would still fail. Apparently in C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET, there was a folder called assembly that was lingering when I uninstalled. I deleted the folder and repaired the .NET installation, and now everything works great.

Hope this helps at least someone. It caused me a lot of hair-pulling.

PS - Also what error msg do you get when installing .NET 4 ? Did you uninstalled 4.5 first ?

I am doing a clean deinstalling of the dotNET before reinstalling a new one with a cleanup tool which works nice. It always gives me a rollback error at installing the dotNET client profile.

 

I will try what you just posted and hope that it will work =)

 

EDIT:  Okay the first things won´t work...I can´t delete the "assembly" folder even though I am the admin and the only framework I can install is still the version 4.5.

Did you read the FAQ on FNIS's Nexus page?

 

 

(".NET Problems") The generator gives some other strange error messages like "0x800A0005 (CTL_E_ILLEGALFUNCTIONCALL)", ".NET Framework Initialization Error", or aborts immediately after double-clicking.
Most likely you have a corrupted .NET installation, which can even be caused by undetected viruses. Re-Install .NET from Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (Standalone Installer). If this does not help use .NET Framework Setup Verification Tool and Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool. The following link might give additional information: .NET 40 Redistib install error "failed with 0x240006". This .NET Framework Setup Verification Tool User's Guide seemed to solve many issues. If nothing helps, and before you have to completely re-install windows, you might consider How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 & Windows Server 2008 R2.

no I didn´t as I didn´t thought this error would be this common to get it´s own place in an FAQ =) I will try and hope for the best
