n1adia1 Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 Survival is so much fun and such a unique experience it seems. I've never found a game that replicates a vibe Food/water/sleep management isn't a nuisance but feels realistic The sleep to save system makes settlements a safe Haven. I love becoming familiar with routes and knowing where save spots are. Prepping for specific trips. Sometimes I need to make an aluminum run so I travel light. Or maybe I'm going through a hot zone so bring either gear to sneak through and snipe, or gear to run in guns blazing. There's a lot more to it, but is there any other game that replicates this?? I've tried survival games like rust but they just dont capture the immersion of fo4 survival
KoolHndLuke Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 (edited) As far as needing to eat, keep hydrated, find shelter and stuff like that? I've seen a few but can't remember the names of them. Seemed like the emphasis was more on combat than survival in harsh environments and sustaining basic needs. Edited May 2, 2023 by KoolHndLuke
Guest Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 Subnautica in my top five for hitting a really good balance between atmosphere and survival mechanics that don't feel too overbearing. There's fun prep to do before going on deep sea dives if you're looking for that sort of routine. Although, there's no actual combat if that's something you're looking for. And if you've got thalassophobia, I'd look elsewhere
Omicr0n Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 You could get a similar survival setup going in Skyrim, albeit without guns and settlement building. There's the official Survival Mode, but also plenty of mods to get a more tailored experience.
Vortex Lord Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 Stalker with some kind of mod that uses Call of Chernobyl as its base like Anomaly for example. It's less brutal than Call of Misery or Misery proper. But really you can pick whatever mod suits your needs. I wouldn't recommend vanilla Stalker like I wouldn't recommend vanilla Skyrim. It's good and a great basis for what mods ultimately improved.
Gameplayer Posted May 16, 2023 Posted May 16, 2023 Fallout new Vegas, old game but it came with survival mode. Although it needs some recipe mods cause it gets weird having the character eat the lunch box along with the food in the box. I suppose it's balanced because when you eat Nuka cola, you eat the bottlecap too. Some drinks the player eats the glass.
