Hi like the title say i have lag problem first i going to say this i play this games on High settings or Ultra settings without problem even with mods and no problem.

Oblivion, SKyrim SE, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 3 Remake, Cyberpunk 2077, Resident Evil 8, Hogwarts Legacy.

but Fallout 4 is my Achilles heel i play the game for around 2 hours and out of nowhere the game go from 60fps to 2fps in seconds back to 60fps. i try everithing i put the resolution a 1080p i lower the graphics to medium or low and nothing i see people on youtube running fallout 4 so smooth and i cant like wtf i can run old games, heavy games and modern games easy with out a problem and this old game from 2015 is causing problem really? so i was hoping if someone know a mod or something can help we the performace of the game because it's ridiculous hogwarts legacy have more graphics than Fallout 4 my pc run Hogwarts like a champ.

here is a video when i was play RE3 Remake i had a GTX 1060 ti in that time RE2 Remake and RE3 Remake i play those two games with the GTX 1060 ti. but the rest i playing with my RTX 2070 super. since I changed my video card i play better and smooth.

smooth run even when i was recording. No need to see the whole video.

RE3 Remake GTX 1060 Ti

EDIT: here is a posible fix work for me most part now the game run a lot smoother than before if someone have others fix welcome to put it here.

Also, if you are like how I used to be (could not stand dirty settlements, I mean come on, its been 200 years and you can't get a freaking broom?) and use "Scrap Everything", you will get to a point where your FO4 slows way down and crashes as you have inadvertently broken tons of precombines.     So if you are using scrapping mods, that may contribute to your issue.   There are several mods out now that "clean" up the settlements.

The other thing is check your inbound and outbound traffic.    Some mods are not as....secure as others, so make sure you aren't running some other process that shouldn't be running when you are in FO4.

thanks for the answer but my problem start before i install scrapping mods the first time i have this problem i unistall the game thinking i brake something when i was installing mods but after i re-install i try the game without mod and the problem was there less but there after i install some bug fix mods the game start running well no problem after a couple of mods all of them tested before i install other mod out of no where the game start doing that againg ramdon like i go to the stadium everithing is fine then  i go to other places and everithing normal but then i come back to the stadium and the game lag something like that is ramdon that is why is hard for me to find the problem and is not only with the stadium even places where there is not npcs or big thing to make the game lag. ? this game just works

What this game need is no a optimization this game need is a Remaster like Fallout 4 special edition something like that. skyrim special edition is a lot better with mods and more flexible than the skyrim Legendary edition.

I saw your edit and read that website.   VSync sounds like a good first bet, but I was also going to suggest making sure your video card is up to date.   My FPS drop is usually when my swap file is being used for other processes, or I am in a new area.   Since yours happens seemingly randomly, I would focus outside of the game since you are not breaking stuff in the game.

One more thing, there is an issue with bullet shells and debris from shooting.   It was a big cause of FPS lag a while back ( https://steamcommunity.com/app/377160/discussions/0/1621726179567911425/ )

i have this problem too. it was fine when both the game and mods ran from an nvme. but it's only 240gb and i needed it for something else.

so i moved the mods onto a 7200rpm spinner while the game is still on the stick, then random lags started appearing.

it was so bad sometimes the game halted completely at 2fps for a few seconds before continuing back to 60fps.

what i did to resolve this was to make ba2 archive for every loose mods.

it didn't completely eliminate the random lags, i think it's because the game and mods are on different drives with different performances.

but the frequency it appears is significantly reduced and no more halts.

i've tried Fallout 4 Texture Compressor to resize 4k textures to 2k. but sometimes it just broke the textures so i had to redo it again and again until it worked.

OK I am very curious.   You have your mods on one drive and the game on another drive....and it works?     I bought me a "game only" drive so I could put the mods and games together, as that was common advice back in the day (using NMM).     That is good to know that is not an issue anymore.

yes it works. windows, steam, the game, MO2 are on 240gb stick and the mods are on 4TB spinner.
