llamaRCA has updated Heather Casdin and THAT is always a reason to celebrate AND post a tribute mod to one of the most adorable, dependable & game immersive waifu's one could ever find.  Next to Companion Ivy of course.

Now, whenever I met Heather Casdin for the first time she was an underfed wastelander and struggling caravaneer who couldn't get her life enhancing products carried by the Bunker Hill caravans.  They would take her SCAV but not much else.  But she was more interested in avenging the wrongful death of her sister and so THAT was my priority for the many moons of our budding relationship.

Well.....whenever she married my PC, who is the General of the Minutemen and HERO of the Battle of Bunker Hill, it's ONLY right that her Caravan business gets a leg up or in my case....a SERIOUS boost in advertisement and distribution.  Just think of all the settlements and provisioners out there who work for her new spouse....and by natural common law extension.....Heather.

SO, what was one of the FIRST things I did as her new husband?  Got a box of Abraxo and made a mat swap and changed her ugly rusted Chem Bench to look pristine and shiny like new.  It actually made it easier to read her logo.  Then I changed her logo to more appropriately reflect the SHAPE of things to come, since we had worked together on a "Body Enhancing" formula with the evident help of Bodyslide, AND eventually updated all her advertisement signs to reflect her new last name.  Casdin-SMITH.  BUT....that took awhile because getting her to allow my surname to share top billing with hers required a LOT of haggling in our marital bed.  Still have imaginary sore muscles from that.

Then we talked about a few new products and discarded some that weren't really a "help" to someone who wants to take the sage advice of a Brotherhood of Steel Squire who often laments that more people aren't dedicated to "eradicating these abominations." 

SO.....any form of mutant monster repellent?  NO...I'd rather have something that ATTRACTS them to me so they can be properly destroyed!  OR gives me a bit more health for a time so that I can survive the poison.

I also noticed that the Brahmin Bone Meal recipe was using the component of bone instead of the "Jawless" Brahmin Skull or whatever and I realized that if I only have a human skull in my inventory, then the game would break that down and make her recipe and if I ate it, I became an unwitting cannibal.  Yuck!  No thanks!

Anyway, so once I started changing things...I just kept at it until things were the way I wanted them to be to reflect the CHANGE caused by our in-game marital relationship.....SO I had to change the textures on the boxes, her weapons and her armor etc., etc.  Luckily llamaRCA made it REALLY easy to do.  Just copy what you want and paste as a new layer, move it where you want and size it right, then FLATTEN the image and save.  Easy Peasy!

BTW, my skill at the Bodyslide Outfit Studio is pretty slim to none but I was able to glom together some 3BBB meshes with her normal armor and make them a bit less....frumpy.  She appreciated that.  There are plenty of tutorials out there for that so I don't plan on going there unless someone else wants to contribute their experiences with it.

Oh, and after the honeymoon I got to thinking that I'd really like to spend a few more nights in our marital bed, BUT, I didn't want to travel ALL the way to FH to do it.  SO...with a bit of reviewing the "My Lady Killer Bed" mod, I made my own out of Heather's Furniture entries.  EASY Peasy!

Now...what do YOU want to do to make a change in your game world that will remind you every now and again that Heather is a truly necessary and contributing part of your game life?  That's what this mod/tutorial is all about.  Sharing the love.  But I digress.  Again.  Mod On!  Game On!

 

ACTUAL DOWNLOAD PACKAGE CONTENTS:

 

An ESP with 2 matswap records using llamaRCA's Heather mod as a master file for you to work on your own edits, then COPY them over to your own PATCH or just continue to use it as you wish. It will never be updated. Docs folder of workflow Screenshots.

 

HOW TO USE THIS MODDERS RESOURCE:

 

#1.  Download and properly install the TOOLS that I used.  F04Edit, Paint.net (Or any graphics program that can easily edit .dds files.), BSA Extractor and a Material Editor.

#2.  Decide what you want to change.  Textures?  Recipes?  New mat swaps?  You gotta have a plan.

#2.  EXTRACT llamaCompanionHeatherv2 - Textures.BA2 and/or the meshes or Material Files from llamaCompanionHeatherv2 - Main.BA2 somewhere with a lot of room.  THEN create a working folder for your "OVERRIDE" textures.  Your folder needs to have the proper tree for what you are doing.  Like C:\My Heather Patch Mod\Data\Textures or meshes or whatever you want to change.  You have to LOOK at the extracted files to see WHERE llamaRCA put them so you put your OVERRIDE textures in the same place with the same name.

#3.  LOOK at the workflow screenshots in the DOCS folder of THIS mod and see if there's anything in there YOU want to put in your patch also.

#4.  Have FUN!  Sometimes the exploration of learning how to do something by trial and error helps us grow.  BUT....if there's something you don't understand then please ASK the question.  There is NO such thing as a stupid question.  I will answer all questions that are posted eventually, unless I die of boredom.  Since I live with an un-medicated paranoid schizophrenic there is VERY little chance of that.  But you just never know when your time is up which is what makes living SO exciting.  Feel me?

Here is why I will NOT be uploading ANY of my personal patches or texture edits anywhere because what I've done so far is a labor of love and IF you love Heather, then IMHO, you should be willing to do the work for her yourself.  BUT....I can certainly teach you how to do it yourself.  IF I can do it, anyone can. Easy Peasy.
