Need help with Horse Texture bug

[Lulu the Milky Succubus]

Hello everyone!

 

I need help figuring out two issues with my horses. The first is what is pictured, the tail texture is messed up and on some horses it looks like the eye texture is being applied to the tail and mane. The other issue is that the texture of the horse I'm riding will swap to a completely different one (at which point the tail is fixed) and back again, I'd say about every 15-30 seconds. From my limited knowledge it feels like two mods are fighting each other for the correct texture.

 

I started this modlist with a clean install and then the Project Skyrim modlist (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/76466). Then I began removing things I felt unneccessary and adding mods I wanted. I'm far from a modding genius but I've been on and off modding Skyrim for years (who hasn't amirite). From what I've tracked down on the Google, it looks like it could be an issue from Immersive Horses (logic drawn from comment on the post linked below). 

 

Thing is, the original Project Skyrim modlist has immersive horses and I removed it. I've updated Bashed Patch, Synthesis, and the SSEEdit Output to where they no longer require any of the mods that I removed and I've ironed quite a few bugs out from all the edits I've made to where I really like how everything is operating but I cannot for the life of me get this issue resolved. 

 

Everything else works great but this is just so immersion breaking. Does anyone have any ideas?

Never seen either of these but textures do not change on their own, nor is there a "change texture" method in papyrus. So most likely what's happening is either some rendering thing (enb for instance, unlikely) or some mod (such as mnc) adding new armor items to the horse. Armor items should be visible with the inv console command. Get the inv command output from when the tail is broken, and from when the horse is glowing in the dark and compare the lists.

 

When you find the armor item (ARMO), locate that record in xEdit and find its ARMA records. From there you can get the nif file path, and opening it in nifskope will give you the texture paths. Along the way, query your mod manager for file conflicts, ie. if something is overriding mnc's horse dong armor, that's likely your mod conflict.

I am having this error too and I tried following your suggestion, but the only thing the horse has equipped was AAA8 (BAD EDITOR ID -- AAA3), the trouble is both of those lead to environmental effects in xedit, so I'm basically lost here.

Environmental effects? For me AAA3 and AAA8 are both LAND records in the Tamriel worldspace. Anyhow, I've seen those BAD EDITOR ID entries before, never had a reason to figure out what they are. I'd keep them in mind, but ignore for now.

 

What about spells? That console mod Lulu has should be able to show them. If you can compare the armor and spell lists to a working horse, that'd be even better.

 

Edit: Not sure if that console mod shows magic effects, those are entirelly different things and often get confused with spells. If you can find a list of MGEFs somewhere, check/compare those too.

For me AAA3 and AAA8 are both LAND records in the Tamriel worldspace

Yeah my bad that's what they were called, they were in the environment tab
Also, I made a mistake, I loaded just MNC and reqs into xedit and searched, but forgot to make sure that I was actually looking at the correct AAA3, it shows up as correctly as ARMA, and it loads into nifscope fine, it's the horses junk though, not the tail or mane.

I just found in the console, in the textures tab, where the carriage horse (working) has tail and harness textures, the broken horse has eyecubemap and horse01_n, horse01_sk, horse04

All other horse colors don't work, it's just horse brown that does and changing equipment has no visible difference

I also have the MNC - CH patch installed

So it turns out the culprit was the fluffworks ABC mod, no idea why the textures assigned to horse:3 were being applied to horse:2
