NO MIP MAPS SOLUTION

 

Hello ,

always i search for new ways to improve RE HD visual and on last spring while i was doing some dds format tests i seen that in RE HD specific case was possible to use a non traditional usage of maps --> maps whitout Mip Maps filtering :

 

MIP MAPS basically is a maps series obtained from the original one (Full res.) but with progressively smaller size , the method is primarily used to speed up render time from engine on every single frame but even to avoid some pixel artifacts as flickering but also know as swimming pixels , this is due to the fact that a large amount of pixels (of map) is displayed in a smaller amount on screen , primarily on surfaces seen in perspective , in their final part , therefore the furthest one.

But in the RE HD case there are not 3D backgrounds in movement since here all is static , so after done several tests directly on Nude Jill character , i seen that the benefits outweigh the risks , for example Jill hairy pussy visualization has had a large improvement and this regardless of the distance from which it's viewed , where before using Mip Maps filtering the visual result was pretty low quality , especially from medium to long distance , this because the engine automatically use the smaller mip variants.

Instead i saved Jill maps with NO Mip Maps option , therefore forcing the engine to use original maps (Full res.) only , anyway this method is not usable on all maps , but around on 90% of these , in certain cases is not possible for several reasons , but in all other cases , my tests say that always there is a improvement on maps visualization.

 

Here some examples , as you can see the visual improvement is not only on hairy pussy but also on gloves and skin , the first one is Mip Maps filtered , the second one is NO Mip Maps :

2- EXTREME QUALITY MAPS >ENEMIES<

 

This mod will be the first one of a series that i planned for RE HD assets improvement , these mods have the purpose to replace all maps of 3D objects with NEW ones of significantly Higher Quality , these maps are obtained using the most complex AI models currently available , images created using an High End machine (my pc modding) and in this case the hardware resources of pc used are VERY relevant.

This mod will replace the maps of all zombies , creatures and monsters of game , differently by Arcturium that has scaled only some Diffuse maps (with medium quality) , i will scale ALL maps (Diffuse , Specular , Normal) and relative Alpha Channels linked to it .. all this with MY QUALITY , all my maps will use NO MIP MAPS solution.

Hello, i'm back ! ^^

 

I wish i had done it sooner but is not been possible due of some accidents along the way, on last December i experienced a primary SSD failure on pc modding, 2 months required for fix everything, then on this spring i has a eyes problem, uncontrolled tearing, i'm better now but i was really afraid i couldn't do what i love to do anymore >> modding.

Someone of you could ask himself if there is a NEW mod .. Yes, but i will announce it further ahead, i need to reach a certain development point, all what i can say is : this mod is the realization of a my dream .. from always for RE Remake/RE HD ! ^^

 

A THANKS to all gamers that had followed my work with passion and patience for all these 10 years of RE HD activity ! 👍

My RE HD Visual Acceleration takes full advantage of all used shaders in order to obtain the Highest Possible Quality on game visual , however there is a setting where i've not push to maximum , i chose to do so as not to make the mod too prohibitive to use since already so , it demands a good quantity resources to work in proper way.

MXAO_GLOBAL_SAMPLE_QUALITY_PRESET=5

 

This line defines the Full Quality of AO shadows generated , therefore the Intensity and Precision of these.

In the RE HD PRO QUALITY 2 original setting you must see the preset 5 (ULTRA Quality 64 samples) >> High Quality AO effect performed.

 

To use the Extra setting you need to change the 5 number to 6 , -save- , so you see this :

 

MXAO_GLOBAL_SAMPLE_QUALITY_PRESET=6

 

The preset 6 is MAXIMUM Quality 255 samples (ULTRA x4) > > MAXIMUM Quality AO effect performed.

 

This setting is the only one to change (having a fairly powerful video card) , all other shaders settings have been pushed to Maximum already.

about this post, you must to know the EXTRA setting (RE HD PRO QUALITY 2) is NOT to use since is unstable, the problem is the no optimization of setting, it was my mistake, at that time i didn't take enough time to test it, the problem is a variable frame rate when normally it should be stable ( 60 fps ), this problem can happen after a month as also after 6 months ( ! ),  but you know a thing >> when i sperimented the problem on my pc modding, i redone the Quality tests using the -screenshots test- (an extremely accurate method), this time i checked carefully and i seen that

 

using the PRESET =6 [ MAXIMUM Quality ] there is NO DIFFERENCE with the PRESET =5 [ ULTRA Quality ], since there is no growth on the definition and depth of the radiated shading, in a simple words using the PRESET =6 is a waste of resources on your video card.

 

I repeat it : the setting to use is the PRESET =5 [ ULTRA Quality ], the original setting provided from mod, then there is no need to edit the MATTEO.ini config file.

It's also important to say : ALL settings of RE HD PRO QUALITY 2 work in the correct way, i well tested this before and after mod release.

the community of RE HD Remaster is pretty large and in continuous growth, RE HD is a game without time, an old-fashioned game that never gets old, my next 2 mods will deliver to this game THAT QUALITY which it has always deserved but has never had since 2015.

still i'm not ready with the mods announcement but i have some infos for you 😉 :

 

the official announcement will arrive in the November month with a MATTEO SPECIAL POST, this post will be full of informations and visual stuff on 2 next RE HD mods.

 

- First mod : .. this is a Dream that i have since RE HD release, mmh, to be honest even when i played original RE Remake (on Game Cube spring 2002), in 20 years of modding activity, this is the first mod that i build in these particular conditionsparticularly complex conditions, of course i chose to do it this way to obtain the highest possible quality.

Currently this mod is in very advanced development state, it will be something very used in the game, something crucial for gameplay itself.

 

- Second mod : this is a totally unexpected thing ( ! ), i never planned it, i didn't even think about it, this mod strongly inserted in my head, it's strange to say in this way but it's true.

When i did the first tests to see what was possible to obtain, immediately i said to myself "OK, this must be done !".

about RE HD PRO QUALITY 2 :

 

the main reason that pushed me to create a second visual acceleration for RE HD Remaster has been the desire to obtain a better sharpness level, RE HD PRO QUALITY 1 gave an acceleration on this aspect but the final resul was pretty limited from shaders in use, then with time Reshade continued to improve and New more powerful shaders have been released.

This aspect was particularly important to improve since RE HD was built using the DirectX 9.0c and usually with these api the games have a pretty blurry image natively, of course all images details are there, the issue is how are displayed, then RE HD PRO QUALITY 2 has the purpose to free the details from the blurring imposed from the DirectX 9.0c

Another thing that i wanted to fix was the Bloom lighting setting, in my opinion RE HD uses a too much wide Bloom effect, often this one tend to cover/limit the visualization of all details adjacent to the light source, so i re setup the whole effect to obtain a more natural and realistic visual result and of course showing all the stuff usually covered from effect in the original game.

Also i inserted Extra effects in the game as Global Illumination and AO, all specific for RE HD and to complete an improved FXAA filter.

the following RE HD mods are work in progress :

 

ICONS, INVENTORY, BOX

 

This is the second and Final ver. of my mod -Icons, Inventory, Box-, for long time this mod has been a dream for me, since RE HD pc ver. release (2015), everyone know that original Icons images and interactive screens Inventory/Box suck, the quality is shamefully low, it was been necessary a specific mod that fix in the best way this aspect of game, this is not just an aesthetic thing, all these assets are extremely used in the game, a important part of its gameplay.

This Remake was not intended to be an improved version of the original, but something completely different in the shape and color, this is my Vision of it and to create this thing, it took a few years of HARD work .. tough beyond all limits, technical complications related to the singular way of managing assets from RE HD engine, but i never gave up !

This mod will include 9 NEW Icons images, the Inventory interactive screen is almost complete, all assets (that make up the inventory) have been redone from scratch than first ver.

I very worked on some assets like the the health indicator (top left), this has been one of more complex things to create due of fact that is composed from many different parts, but over these i added several others (^.^), as well as animated i wanted it as "power on", in fact also i added a power supply with indicator light.

New Quality Standard for RE HD 2D backgrounds.

 

I'm using a New Gen AI model in order to obtain High Quality scaled images, Reupscale and Rescale mods have been obtained using as base the original GC assets (SD res.), RECREATE is obtained using as base the Rescale assets (HD res.) and some of Reupscale ones (HD res.), then i regenerate images already regenerated previously with a custom procedure and a specific AI model.

Hello,

 

there is a New mod coming (^.^), i created it recently and it will be important for RE HD visual quality, in fact this mod will fix a problem that the game always suffered in these 10 years, it was a great pleasure built it since this also was a my personal desire.

This mod must be used in combo with RE HD PRO QUALITY 2 in order to obtain the highest possible quality on the game (^^), currently it's on testing phase, i will release it on next weeks, as always my purpose is obtain the best quality for enjoy an High End RE HD experience.

 

RE HD DESERVES THE BEST.

the testing phase of new mod is proceeding, in these cases i take all necessary time to do things with calm before to certificate the mod, this thing arrive only this year but i desired it since 2015, but at that time i didn't had the today knowledges on RE HD engine.

 

I was born to modding and i'm specialized to build on RE HD engine, i have many interesting ideas then who know what could arrive in the future ? (^^)

i'm observing/studying RE HD graphic functioning since 10 years, in this period time i learned several interesting things that allowed me to build important mods as RE HD PRO QUALITY 2 visual acceleration, but even the NEXT mod will be an important step for RE HD visual improvement, in fact this mod will do a never done before thing on this game and i must say >> also in this case this was a my wish that only now is possible to satisfy, i'll be ready for XMAS time.

i was hoping i could finish on the X-MAS but unfortunately it is not like that, i need some other time, anyway everything is proceeding well, but since this is an important mod talking of RE HD visual quality, it's necessary show/present it in the right way, the mod will arrive within the end of the year.

i'm almost ready but the New mod will arrive with new year, these are particular days and unfortunately i have not enough time to complete my work as i want, for me is important take care on every mod aspect like Documentation folder and Read me file.

The Documentation folder will be large and this was necessary to show in detail the mod specs, don't worry the mod is here, ready to start (^.^), just missing last touches, please be patient.

i'm sorry for delay, the New mod will arrive soon, i don't give a date since i'm not good at meeting deadlines, you see basically this mod do only one thing in specific on RE HD graphics, but as a consequence of it, then are unleashed -other- things, currently what i'm doing is to check one of these, all other have been checked already, the mod is working correctly but i want be sure that everything work in the most optimal way, it's some time that i'm working on this mod, even before of my Special Post of November, in fact all screenshots posted on that post are so refined because are enhanced by RE HD PRO QUALITY 2, but also by THIS mod. 🙂

i'm sorry but it's my duty to say that since it was released RE HD, then in these 11 years, all us have played this magic game with downgraded graphics thanks to mother CRAPCOM >> the problem is caused by a graphic filter, today i release a mod that will fix in TOTAL way this devastation on RE HD graphics :

 

NO GRAIN FILTER

 

This mod removes in definitive way the Film Grain filter from the game, it's a Visual Acceleration to all effects since once removed the Grain, in addition to the quality increase on the image, various graphic effects are unlocked.
The Grain is a downgrading graphic filter and it does a lot more damage than it seems, it's applied on the game through 2 little maps (Noise and Mask) which are then repeated across the whole screen with the tile system.
The Grain applies a distortion on image shape, basically the interference is caused from moving pixels which go to disturb/alter the definition of the details, lowering the image general definition, but not only this, the Grain is a colors filter, this means that when is applied, it transforms and reduce the colors on the screen, displaying so an image that is chromatically inferior to the original.
Once started the game, RE HD engine requires the Grain filter to render the graphics, since can't physically remove it, the genius of the mod is that a NULL Grain filter is used, using specifically modified maps, therefore everything is internally done (in engine), thus avoiding the use of external solutions (invasive and imprecise).
Inside "Documentation" folder, 001 image to see the 2 maps (Noise and Mask) used to obtain the Grain filter, 002-199 the visual comparisons, not just to natural size (100%) but the zoomed ones also since the Grain filter is not very visible on 100% size screenshots, therefore it's necessary a look to closed distance to see clearly what change and how it change, 200-376 the game in movement (real time and cutscenes), here is shown not only the game with NEW Visualization Standard but even the Extra graphic effects achieved with Film Grain filter removal as the clear volume visibility of the light sources and of the reflected light (from the characters/objects/environment), the direct interaction between reflected light and environment shadowed areas/environment in general, amplified movement of all light sources, more precise and realistic display of projected shadows on characters/creatures and those projected on the environment.

 

Visual comparisons (002-199) >> the FIRST image is the original (with Grain), the SECOND ONE is the modded one (NO Grain).

 

Features :

 

- 100% Pure and Limpid image with no interferences, NEW Image Visual Standard achieved.
- Increased image precision >> more defined details >> Higher Quality output on the game experience and screenshots quality.
- Extra image details displayed, primarily in the shadowed areas.
- Image displayed with a higher number of colors.
- Improved visualization of all particle effects included smoke, steam and fog.
- 2D backgrounds really static with no more noise (pixels movement).
- Increased sense of fluidity felt from the eye.
- Slight increase in intensity of light sources.
- Light sources volume completely visible and defined.
- Reflected light volume completely visible and defined.
- Amplified movement of light sources/reflected light, pulsation/vibration/movement more marked.
- Direct interaction between reflected light (from the characters) and the environment in general, with intense action on the shadowed areas.
- Light irradiation in the environment completely visible and defined.
- Shadowed areas in the environment are displayed with greater sharpness and depth.
- Projected shadows on the characters and on the environment without grain pixels >> shadows produced with a deep black and in certain conditions with added RGB colors >> Realistic and Natural visual result.

Hello,

 

some time is passed since my last post, always i'm here to operate on RE HD in various ways, currently i'm testing (again ^.^) NO GRAIN FILTER mod, i continue to find new things and details now visible on game graphics and before was not, i'm interested to study the mod impact on game graphics, i'm doing a lot of screenshot tests in photoshop to various zoom levels and i seen several interesting things (^^), things possible only now.

But even i'm doing other tests (always on graphics) from RE HD PRO QUALITY 2, this mod never ceases to amaze me ( ! ), in conclusion i'm satisfied of what i obtained with NEW Visual Standard (RE HD PRO QUALITY 2 + NO GRAIN FILTER) .. RE HD never been so nice to see ! (^.^)

 

About this POST :

 

the NO Mip Maps solution was just a graphics test, initially i was interested but soon i understood that use it was simply wrong, in fact there is a reason if Mip Maps was invented and have own function on the graphics, then all my mods that treats textures for 3D objects will use Mip Maps solution.

 

Now i would like to clarify a matter since i seen that many gamers are confused about resolution to use on RE HD :

 

i work on this game since its release (2015), in these years i learned several things about it, one of these is surely the correct resolution to use on this game >> RE HD is a 1080p game.

 

This game has been built and optimized for this res, every of its assets works in correct way on it, i'm not talking about 2D backgrounds only but all the screens, interactive screens, icons, texts, prerendered videos, ecc.

To display this game with a Quality image, it's necessary use 1080p res on a 1080p monitor, who will use a different res will display RE HD in NOT CORRECT WAY (degraded image).

Of course everyone of you is free to do as he want, i felt in duty to clarify this. (^^)

 

Recently on Nexusmods, it has been relesed a New RE HD backgrounds mod, i tested it and the 2D backgrounds quality is not very good, but the questionable quality is not the only issue of that backgrounds, anyway it's not the case to enter in the detail since i'm not interested to use that mod, surely RESCALE remains the BEST solution for RE HD 2D backgrounds. (^^)
