moody132 Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 Can i just add thoose 'mods' from AE to my SE modlist? To clarify, i couldn't care less about them, but i started seeing mod that requires fishing 'dlc' for some reason, like some COTN Dawnstar patch. I saw some downgrader patch, Best of Two Worlds. How that works exactly? Right now I am playing 1.5.97 with most of CC content, but there are like 10-20 mods missing. IS AE SE+CC+changed exe and dll? Are esm/esl/esp and other files exactly the same? My goal is to maintain my bigass modlist, and add thoose missing CC, without making a mess, need to reinstall shit acording to version etc. Because i have felling that if i instal USSEP AE version instead of SE version, then something else will need be to reinstalled, etc, and my modlist will be ruined.

It's keeping all the 1.6+ files except the skyrimse.exe and binkw64.dll which are restored to the ones from 1.5.97. That way you have an executable version compatible with SKSE 2.0.20 and all the SKSE plugins (mods with a dll) for said version and you get to use CC stuff (be it the 4 free CC or the entire paid DLC of AE stuff). That seems to be what you want. 2 hours ago, moody132 said: My goal is to maintain my bigass modlist, and add thoose missing CC, without making a mess, need to reinstall shit acording to version etc. Because i have felling that if i instal USSEP AE version instead of SE version, then something else will need be to reinstalled, etc, and my modlist will be ruined. If you keep an executable version of 1.5.97 and SKSE 2.0.20 any mod with a dll you currently have will still work. If you want to install new mods with a dll you'll have to verify these are compatible with 1.5.97 and 2.0.20 (and remember to use Address Library for SE). The USSEP patch for you would need to be the latest one though, because it doesn't depend on your executable version, but all the other files touched by the latest updates (LOOT will warn you that USSEP current version requires a specific executable version, but that isn't true, all USSEP needs are the esm files of the base game + the free creations). And changing from one version of USSEP to another shouldn't cause problems for other mods (the only scenario like that would be going from the old USSEP to the current one without the 4 free CC things). Shonen17000 Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 But sadly downgrading to 1.5.97 works only on steam.

Yeah, but unlike Steam updates which are automatic by default and the user has to do something to avoid them, buying an entirely different version in another platform is a 100% conscious decision. Or it should be. Edited March 13, 2023 by Just Don't

Or it should be. Never had any problems with steam updating the game. Step 1: right click > properties > updates > "Only update this game when I launch it" Step2: Always launch the game with SKSE

Lots of users don't know about it, hence the hundreds of threads about updates breaking games. The comment was about making an informed decision when buying other versions of the game though.
