It seems incredible that a great game with one of the most active modding scenes currently has no lewd mods? I've searched and got no results. Are there any? Are there any being worked on at least?

dev of starsector still keeping the game on the down low for some reason so very few people actually know about that game despite how good it is

will probably finally get some good lewd mods when the game gets put on steam after he finished the game, like he said he would probably four years ago now, though the game has progressed a TON since then

ya also since the game is being updated a lot. Its better to wait until the full release when they put it up on steam. That way the game is a bit more settled and the modding wont have to be updated as much.

Modding Starsector is a bit of a nightmare. Every other patch breaks the mods, and the duration between said patches makes the modders lose interest pretty often. Not to mention the plethora of community drama anytime someone makes an even slightly lewd mod. The UAF team has actual porn of their characters but they don't post it often and they've stated it will never implemented it in the game, for one reason or another.

I'm hoping that once the game goes more mainstream, adult content will be more acceptable, but there's no telling when that'll happen.

I've got this game. It's pretty great and not that bad for modders. Yeah every patch breaks mods but you get a major update only about once every other year. There are minor patches for a couple months after that but then it's all clear for over a year. If anyone wants to put together any kind of lewd content, don't feel like you have to wait for the game to be finished. Your mod will have plenty of life even if you don't have a lot of time to dedicate to it.

I've been dabbling in modding Starsector, and I'm considering making a mod with a semi-lewd aspect, where you can build something along the lines of a Red Light District on your colonies as an industry, where it brings in a certain amount of income every month, but having it immediately makes the Luddic Church and Path want to raid you.

This would be part of a larger mod I'm currently working on, though, and admittedly I'm not having a great time learning how to mod this game.

I mean... there -are- lewd portrait packs out there like Boobsector. But it's just injecting images to be used as your player character, and in game officers and bar contacts.

There is, but the modding community is pretty secular in Starsector at the moment. It is very tight-nit and the mod authors tend to find ways to obstruct things they do not like. The main reason the lewd mods exist is to spite those mod authors.

For example, there's R*pesector, I'll link it here, but I've run into a problem where the faction I am aligned to (a mod faction) specifically does not allow the "industry" this mod adds to be built while commissioned to them. I'm digging through the files to undo this thing, since it's mostly in CSV (data sheets like Excel) and Java and all I need to do is find the script call and remove it to get it working.

E: After several hours of searching, I found that the issue was the mod itself only allowed the facility to be made by the Player Faction, basically disallowing the facility to be made by NPCs, it was not an issue with the faction mod.

An example of "spite" is that there are very specific characters from other mods that are added to this one that target them. Doesn't take long to find the files indicating this. This underground modding scene mostly runs out of 4chan, which is a nightmare to navigate and I am having little to no success finding the origin discussion around this mod's development.

E: Personally, due to its mostly text-based storytelling, there is nigh-unlimited creative freedom that can be had in this game and I love that. I could see a lewd mod scene, though small, for this game.

I never knew there was interest but i have 2 custom made image mods.

One uses IRL images and the other is AI generated. I would post a preview but i am not sure how.
Can clean them up and post them as actual packs.

Someone is making a nsfw mod on loverslab. It is on version 0.01, but it is currently not released. The creator plans on releasing it when it is in a more playable stage. Here is the mod.

Are we sure it's actually the game creator against it or it's just the community being elitist?

Alex vets all the curated mods on the forum, so some mod authors that where accepted into the "mod index" page tend to get an ego. It's a combination of both.

Yeah, Its even worst than I thought... I just checked the Starsector forum and this Alex guy locked a thread and removed the download link for an Azur Lane portrait pack...

It wasn't even THAT sexual, it was just cleavage... Yikes, what a prude.

The fractalsoftworks.com/forum rules make it VERY clear that Alex/the devs don't want to deal with this issue on their forum.  But nor do they care if it's on here!

FYI to whoever made this mod, I agree that it can possibly result in significant creative freedom, especially if code were to be added to link in specific modded character officers with custom dialgoue.  But the integration with the story points system is stupid, since it significantly limits a necessary resource for other game stuff.  Although, to be honest, the entire story point system in general is stupid, so maybe I'm just biased.

Edit:  FYI, the latest public release for this mod (11/10/23) added an option to remove story point use, which I would highly recommend utilizing, since after testing it the mod resulted in basically eating a bunch of story points that are definitely needed elsewhere in the game...
