Why disable Mods after an Update?

Of course I'm going to restart to see if my mods are busted. There's no reason at all to disable them. A notice that the game has been updated and they probably took all the fun out of the game (again) is all that is needed.

I tried this on the official forum but the usual excuse is "you should update your mods before going into the game" or "we disabled it to prevent issues". But how am I supposed to know what works and what doesnt without mods enabled? There is no way to keep track of all the mods because they are all over the internet. And even if there are issues when entering the game, as long as we dont save they cant screw things up.

Many times the game changes in a way that makes tuning files or code used by mods "obsolete". Then it is up to you if you want to re-enable all your mods (and probably face quite a lot of issues) after an update or simply disable them. Nobody forces you to play without mods, but since the vast majority of sims 4 players have little to absolutely no idea about mods and troubleshooting it is a wise decision to disable mods "by default". I mean, it is not that difficult to simply enable the mods back and restart the game, right? It might take how long, 1 minute or less?

Then in most cases you can know what mods are likely to be "broken" depending on what have changed in the game, and you can even check the updated tuning descriptors and the new xml to see what have changed, without starting your game with mods enabled.

Follow up the situation of your mods is actually quite easy, you can go in deaderpool, sims after dark, or zerbu's realm discord for example and in all of them there is a channel that updates pretty often with news about mod updates, mods that are obsolete or broken etc... You can also check Scarlets list The Mod List – Scarlet's Realm (scarletsrealm.com) where you can find status about almost every single mod out there in one place, or even subscribe to her tumbler. Just to say a few methods, it takes very little time and almost no effort to keep track of that, so there is no reason not to.

Yeah, one minute.... without mods enabled. Some of us have quite alot of mods and cc that takes abit to load.

They always stay away from interfering with mods but in this one instance they are annoyingly interfering by treating players like we couldnt possibly understand how to turn on a stove without adult supervision. The sims is the only game I ever played with this training wheel shit from the devs.

Its about principle. It should be optional by now. It feels like wasted time to start a game only to enable an option again that I never consented to have changed without my approval because those are my settings on my pc. Nobody has a right to interfere with them. In any other instance people would be outraged. But when its a game we have to take shit like this?

Yeah, they are helpful in that regard. I already am in a sims discord with one of those but not all my mods are in there and often it takes 1-2 days for modders who are in the list to tell whats up with their mods. But dont go to deaderpools discord. Just dont. For your own sanity and considering we are here on this very page with content they are extremely hostile towards,

Im just glad LittleMsSam has a patreon which makes it easy to keep track of updates because I have alot of her very useful mods.

I tried that before and its very time consuming to go through the list considering a have collected quite a few mods over the years. But most of them hardly break. Usually its only the big ones that break or have minor issues which I can identify by playing for five minutes. If the game wouldnt turn off the mods. And its happening with every patch. Without my consent. With my settings. Like I said, I dont have to deal with this kind of shit in any other game thats modded.

This would also be much easier if the curse client would actually work with upgrades like it keeps track of updates for Wow. But its completely useless or people arent updating their mods on curse at all. It just lists all my mods and CC without seperating them and thats it.

Im saying things could be alot better. Starting by making such things optional so we can decide how its supposed to happen at patch day.
