Different Bodies for NPCs

Recommended Posts

I'm beginning to look at mods that varies the bodies and textures for Skyrim NPCs. Do any of you have setups that work for you? What's best? What's easiest?

If you have any recommendations or experiences, I'd love to hear them :)

I use AutoBody. I really enjoy it and found it easier than Obody. Those are typically the two go-fors. AutoBody requires a separate program to load your bodyslides and Obody is tied the Osex mods. There is a work around for Obody so that you can use it without all of the O-centric mods. I could never get the hang of it. Mern has a tutorial on Youtube to install it.

I second Autobody, I was expecting it to be a lot more annoying and resource demanding than it turned out to be. Just installing it already makes it basically just work, and with some additional tweaking you can make sure appropriate bodies are assigned to appropriate NPCs.

Additionally I use Skill Based Muscle to make higher leveled NPCs look more muscular than lower level ones.

It seems like OBody NG is the recommended one since AutoBody has been abandoned and OBody NG has passed it in features anyway. The standalone version does not not require OStim.

Yeah, I ended up using OBody NG Standalone and it works like a charm, for male and female for body shapes.

I still haven't fond a satisfactory solution for texture variations, since the one I've found apply normal maps that are too ripped for some of the bodies I use.

You can get texture variation based on race at least:

Race-Based Textures (RBT)

Racial Skin Variance - Females

Racial Skin Variance - Males

Racial Skin Variance - SPID

Unique Racial Features

Then of course make them different size and proportions than the tame vanilla variations;

FK's Diverse Racial Skeletons

Racial Body Morphs Redux SSE AE - FKDRS - Diverse body types and height by Race and Gender

You can even do different animations (WIP)
