On PS4, kuro2's mod works fine, but some character models have lines or marks on their skins. 

 

The PS4 edition can be modified now??  Would you be willing to check for certain files not available on the PC version?  If you are willing, can you look for chr0000_c01.mdl, chr5110_c61.mdl, chr5114_c65.mdl, chr5117_c61.mdl, chr5118_c00.mdl, equ8050.mdl, and equ8058.mdl and please share them?  There are also missing .dds files tied to those .mdl files, but I will need to analyze the .mdl files to know what they are.

 

Thank you for confirming that the mods work.  There is something wrong with the textures it seems, but that might be solveable when analyzing the ps4 .dds files.

You can use dds or png textures on PC, but not on PS4, so you need to change the images to gnf to use them. First, the mdl extracted from the PS4 kuro2 patch.psarc file. Note that the path and structure is slightly different for PC and PS4.

Thank you for sharing these!  Were you able to find the other files I listed, or were they not in your installation?  They might be exclusive to the Japanese release, etc.

 

Would you please share the textures for the MDLs that you shared?  I parsed the metadata, and I would need these files to convert everything:

mi files: chr5110_c61.mi, chr5114_c65.mi, chr5117_c61.mi.  texture files:  chr5110_c61_03.dds, chr5114_c65_01_a.dds, chr5114_c65_01r_p.dds, chr5114_c65_03.dds, chr5117_c61_03.dds, chr5117_c61_04.dds, chr5117_c61_04_n.dds, chr5117_c61_04_p.dds.  If it is easier to upload the .gnf file, that is fine, I can learn how to convert them.

The original PS4 textures don't have dds files, they are all gnf files. I uploaded the files you mentioned, but the rest of the files seem to be in different psarc files.

I spoke to one of the Kuro 2 modders on the Modding Discord and was told that these three costumes are the only missing files.  I very much appreciate you sharing them with us!

 

I spent some time converting the files and experimenting with them, and the game engine does seem to be very sensitive to the texture type.  It seems that PS4 uses BC1 (also known as DXT1), while PC uses BC7.  Please try converting your textures to BC1 (Linear / UNORM) before converting to .gnf and perhaps the colors will look better.  If you are using Paint.NET, then this is the setting you want to use to save the textures:

To use, just copy the files into your Kuro 2 directory.  The items will be available for purchase from Gin's shop in old town.  Both Korean and Chinese language t_shop.tbl files are included, as well as a .kurodlc.json file for creating your own tables. (If you are going to make your own CLE K2 tables, be sure first compress them then encrypt them.)

ALSO NOTE: We had assumed these costumes to be lost forever, so @fakecheng made a fan recreation of Grim Kitty.  It is better than the original - with a working tail, optional mask and two color schemes!  Please be sure to try it out as well.

Thanks for the help, the texture I used is the NudeBathing 1.2.0 texture from coomi on page 2. The texture here is BC1 (DXT1), so of course I converted it to BC1 when I converted it to a gnf texture. I don't have texture issues in other games, but I do have texture issues in kuro 2. It's not a header issue, I haven't found which part of the game is the problem yet. I'm already familiar with the texture work for BC1 through BC7 that you mentioned above, and it's the same with or without mipmaps, so I posted my question here. I haven't found a reason yet, but thanks again for all your help.

To find the files on your PS4, you'll need to unzip group0.psarc, group1.psarc, and patch.psarc and locate the files. They are over 30 gigabytes in size. You should be able to extract them with about 100 gigabytes of free space.

this looks like either your normal map or your mask map is wrong. Try making a mod using Lakovic’s nudes instead. Or you can make your own normal and mask maps, see here.

I haven't tested the PS4 file on PC, but renaming the file to something like _c10 will make it a model swap, so it wouldn't hurt to try. 

An error will occur when trying the game, and the files need to be encrypted.

Thanks for finding this!  Four textures are missing, can you see if you can find them?  chr5110_c72_03_n.dds, chr5112_c72_04.dds, chr5112_c72_04_n.dds, chr5112_c72_04_q.dds  (and can you find the other _c72 models?)

There are missing shaders, so these models can not be directly used in Kuro 2.  I might be able to backport them, but not without some compromises.

I have no idea how I missed half the files.  Thanks!

 

EDIT: A small update, I managed to get one costume working, but others are still crashing the game.  There's some weird encryption on the .mi files, which is present in both the PS4 version of Kuro 2 and Kai.

NOTE: Starting with Daybreak, Falcom no longer has a modular DLC system, so without making your own custom tables, you can only use one DLC P3A at a time!  Please see here how to combine the tables of 2 or more DLCs using the .kurodlc.json file included in this mod - you must use the original kurodlc_make_tbls.py and not kurodlc_make_zzz_tbls.py, which is only for NISA Daybreak!  It is an intimidating process at first, but will become very easy once you do it once or twice.  (If you are going to make your own CLE K2 tables, be sure first compress them then encrypt them.)

I've updated both the lost Kuro 2 PS4-only DLC and Kai Bunnies DLC, restoring the original physics files.  This should solve any mysterious game crashes, so be sure to update.  Perhaps just as important, the bunny ears have physics now, and flop around just as you'd expect them to!

I found a issue, could you fix it ? When Shizuna is equipped with the Bunny Girl costume, her mouth appears in a bug, like this.
