Blogs and Feature Images

Is there a specific size or format needed for the Blog feature photos? The site used to be fairly forgiving so long as the image wasn't too big and roughly rectangular. Now though, whenever I try to post one, I get this grainy pattern like half a dozen bytes from the image being tiled.

 

What am I doing wrong? And what should I have read that would have explained this?

Round about 1920 x 700. It can be a bit smaller on both ends, but you can have it that the picture get a little pixelated.

Nope. Still not working.

Mh, I just tried it out, it uploaded just fine for me. Maybe wait a little while, might be the site having problems rn
