Gamer_Auto Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 I decide to play Skyrim SE because my dumb arse forgot I bought it on sale. I make it to the first walled city. I finally lose the ability to look at the vanilla actor skins any longer. The game is fun so far, it's just...EUGH. After Fallout 4, it's hard to look at these horrid excuses they call skins. Like, I don't even need anything sexy (though it would be nice)! I just need something better than...whatever these things are!
traison Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 Here. Come back when you have 600 mods, and none of it works. If you don't do that, you're playing Skyrim wrong. 2

venomr Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Search nexus for "npc replacer" and some stuff should come up. Also there's the "B&B npc replacer" but I don't think itsn on nexus anymore so you'll have to search the internet for it. Also be sure to check out the "arca live tullius" message boards. They are korean based and make their npcs with a different aesthetic. Same with the 9damaogame ( chinese though.) If you mean the outfits they were, you can look into vanilla armor replacers. Some examples are "Ghaans revealing 3bbb armor replacers" and "bd armor and clothing collection." Also be sure to get bodyslide so you can shape the bodies to your liking. And I reccomend "cbbe muscle solution" since it can dynamically change an npcs normal maps depending on their weight. My game is set to look more muscular at low weights, but you can also set it work work the other way around ( so high weights are buff) and you can also set it to be race specific ( so for example, high weight is buff only for Orcs and nords, but all other races are only buff at low weight.) traison Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 (edited) Not sure what I'd recommend, I mean there's tens of thousands of mods and just as many opinions as there is Skyrim players. What I did myself though starting out with SSE was look up Gophers skyrim videos. Specifically the ones where he was setting up his own SSE for his first playthrough. I got the graphics improved a bit, better mountains, better lights, stuff like that. I made my own mods to remove the horrible blur that SSE has, as well as made nights truly dark (none of that overlay crap everyone else seems to be doing). Once I had a basic setup (all things generally improved) I hit up the "fun stuff". After that it's just a matter of playing the game, and finding reasons to do more modding. At some point you wake up and realize whenever you were going to play Skyrim, you just ended up modding it instead. That's when you know you're playing Skyrim the right way - 90% modding, 10% finding more reasons to mod. Fastforward a couple of years and there's a 400-600 mod setup, working flawlessly, except when it doesn't. The first 10-20 or so characters you will have to bin because you run into save breaking bugs or other such things, but with patience you'll get through it. Edit: Like for instance here's one such video from back in the day. Lots of things have changed in the past 4 years, but maybe it's a start. I know I haven't really been swapping out any massive graphics mods, so in my opinion what I got back then is still relevant. Edited December 5, 2022 by traison
