Nazguli Tyvek Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 I'm in the process of making my first quest. I have all the conversations done, have all the characters created, have them all in the game, the only thing I'm having trouble with is advancing the stages. I would like to have a stage where after killing a bandit the player picks up a note and reads it. After reading the note it'll advance the story (new stage) and unlock the final conversation. Similar to the main quest when the MC goes into the tomb to get the horn for the graybeards, reads the note, then unlocks the final part of the quest where he goes to the Inn. However, after looking around and playing some trial and error, I'm unable to get the stages to advance with the note and I'm at a loss. If anyone knows how to advance a quest stage by reading a note, journal, or book then I'd greatly appreciate any help.
worik Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 Maybe you have a look here ? It's a similar setting, just replace the start of the quest with a setstage or whatever you have in mind 2
Heroine HoneyCrotch Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 I linked you to chapter 7, reviewing a few other chapters might not be the worse thing to do. Don't believe there is anything in here pertaining to notes but sound like you doing a few things and this is just quality info for numerous little things you might find helpful. https://www.creationkit.com/index.php?title=Bethesda_Tutorial_Quest_Loose_Ends 1
wolfbread Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 This dude has a really nice short series, you'll pick up some cool ideas. 2

I did notice that the CK page did have a tutorial on creating unique hellos and goodbyes. It'd come in handy when making unique characters.

I found the tutorial on scene creation interesting. I'll have to see about putting a few into future quests that I have panned. Thank you. 1
