Unable to buy Breezehome

I started a new game today and got through the first half and now that I can buy Breezehome the Dragonsreach Steward doesn't have the dialogue option to purchase it.

 

This is an issue I have never run into before  in all my time playing Skyrim and quite honestly I'm still searching for what is causing it.

Hmm, try to dismiss followers if you have any first. Also check your whiterun bounty, I think you can't buy it if you are wanted.

Were was the steward located when you asked?

 

The other day, I was buying Breezehome and couldn't purchase the upgrades while he was on the Grand Porch.  Once he came back inside though, I was able to purchase the upgrades.

Well, you can try disabling all mods just to check if it enables the conversation to purchase the house, and if it works re-enable 5 mods 10 mods at a time to hunt down the one that causes the issue?

 

My money is on any mod which modifies Whiterun.

I didn't have any followers at the time and I tried to buy it twice on two new games the first he was right next to the Jarls chair the second he was upstairs.

 

I'm going to turn off Immersive settlements and see what happens.

Please don't hate me if I point out the obvious, this is just from what I have run into.

 

-between the hours of 8am and 6pm (sort of like the merchants)

-bounty in Whiterun?

 

And then there is always the "did the game just lay an egg?"

I can't believe I'm saying this but it looks like the newest version of Alternate Start is the cause.....Honestly that mod does seem to be getting worse with each update.

 

I'm going to do more testing to make sure though.
