Perfect Sanctuary & Beyond: What are the Best Settlement Layouts?

So, I'm playing vanilla non-kinky FO4, and I wanna set up my settlements so I'm not getting bombarded with "Halp meh plz!" while I'm doing more important quests. I'm hoping to get an answer for _every_ potential Settlement location in the game, not just Sanctuary Hills, but don't feel obligated to answer all at once! I'm fine with pulling from multiple people!

 

Help me optimize my settlements! This is my first real playthrough, so I'm happy to learn from the vets!

Do you plan to use Sim Settlements or Settlement Blueprints? there is also Sim settlements 2 but there are problems with it and fewer plugins for it. Most Settlement plans require additional plugins for them to build the settlement properly. Nexus has the greatest number of plans and Settlement control mods so your best bet is to search there. I posted a collection of settlement plans (covers all the base game and DLC settlements) on nexus and has links to all the needed plugins but there are numerous settlement plans by many different authors. Pick which settlement manager you want to use and look under the requirements tab on the front page and you'll see a listing of all the mods that use that manager including all the settlement plans that require that manager.

I was planning on going full vanilla (scrounging every dungeon for every piece of scrap), because I didn't know there was such a thing. Though, given that the vanilla base building is rather inconvenient, it makes sense that type of mod would be a thing. Do you have a link to your specific collection on your profile?

just do a member search on nexus for Oldwolf58 and you'll get my profile, I've been on there longer than I have here.

Well, I found these two posts, and how they reference Sim Settlements.. NGL, SS and SS2 look really fun. And SS2 beckons me with Player-made Lore, which I love (coming from a fanfiction background).

Was mainly looking for something that was still engaging while making things easier (like, blueprints and layouts and such), but this feels like a good stopgap if I need time to learn some other mods! Thanks!
