Myst42 Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Hi everyone, sorry the swearing, I've been making a review of my environmental and graphic mods for Oblivion since I decided my graphics sucked. I had to install a certain mod called Lush & Gaudy - Floriana Gloria by Brittany at Nexus and the readme is very extensive and she has a chronic swearing problem in it so i kinda got infected after reading too much, hence the swearing Now onto the serious stuff, my problem with OBGE Liquid water is regarding water level For some reason it doesn't quite work right Sometimes lakes appear out of nowhere and sometimes lakes disappear into the nothing I identified this to be related to water level rise/decrease in certain places. Take for example looking at a river with a certain water level, then there's a waterfall and the river is supposed to continue down below but instead the whole valley looks flooded with the same water level as the upper part of the river. Of course moving to the lower part resets the whole thing to the proper level (now the upper part is entirely dry) Some would say you can live with that since it's only at certain angles and views that the fucker really bothers, but its really annoying to have fictional lakes popping out of nowhere in places they're not supposed to exist. Moving to the area always resets to the right thing but its really disturbing in a visual way. I have seen entire valleys of nothing but ugly textures in shivering isles just to approximate and discover they were lakes and rivers and its really pissing me off I don't know if it's a problem with installation, something I'm missing, something I have to set up or configure but I'm sure as hell I'd really love a solution So If anybody is familiar with this mod (which by the way is wonderful when working) could you PLEASE help me find out what is happening? I tired of having it only half-working... And sorry for the swearing... its fucking contagious but I'll be fine tomorrow
kickthecommie Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 If you've installed her L&G water mod as well, that isn't compatible with Liquid Water. If those height issues come up for certain regions when you're far away, and disappear once you get closer, your problem is most likely bad LoD. http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/15781/? http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/40549/? Run those two utilities. The first replaces all the default far-away objects and buildings with custom meshes for your specific mod setup. The second replaces all landscape meshes. The first is simple and straightforward. Try that first and see if it fixes your problem. The second utility is complex and relatively difficult to run correctly. Read the documentation.
Myst42 Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 No I don't have L & G Water mod... though I'm considering to get it it this doesn't work... its kinda like the next best thing right? Its hard to explain, but I didn't mean exactly the issue happens when far away... it happens at short an far distance, except when extremely close I knew of the firs mod, however the second may come useful and I didn't know that one "An image sometimes can say more than..." whatever... here's what happens: Believe it or not, it's the same landscape view and only a few steps of difference
gregathit Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Could it be your LOD gen files are messed up? That is the problem with installing some of this stuff, you end up having to redo a lot of crap to get things working. Personally I stick with things like Qarl's texture pack and leave well enough alone.
Myst42 Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 Oh I have a mess of biblical proportions regarding LOD files... but I don't think its related as this happened from the very first time with very few mods... I always run TES LODGen after messing a bit with mods... but everyone wants their mod's LOD files to be the only ones... UL has some, some other mod I was messing around (Tamriel Landscapes) has some others... L&G has even more... what overwrites what... no idea... I just mixed them and run LODGen... But I insist... Ive never seen this mod working properly... the bug was always there... even when only OBGE water was installed... I'll make a clean install again in near future, but I doubt that's the reason why this fails... EDIT: nevermind... found a solution... Just a versions problem... In case anybody is wondering DO NOT I repeat DO NOT Download any older version I had that one for too long and as it was packed, I even forgot it was not the latest one
