I reinstalled the game because of the new mods. The new mods are awesome.  Seriously, the game looks amazing now and the combat is fun and intense. It really is like playing a whole new game from  just three years ago.

But, all the modding in the word can't cover up this is one fucking weird ass game, by it's own terms.   The whole "I need to find my baby, but first, let me rebuild the entire metropolitan Boston region" and then when you do that, get to Diamond City, apparently have a stroke,  forget the entire last couple of months of your' life and starts talking like you are fresh out of the Vault. "What's a synth?", I don't know Nick/Nora, you mean the twenty robots you helped Paladin Danse destroy at Arcjet?  Forget Preston Garvey softly muttering "There is another settlement that needs our help, General" in his sleep, forget the childish nonsense in the game about nuclear weapons  (So Todd Howard, do you think there is a never ending hurricane over southern Nevada?)  it's the fact that the game forces you on a path and then forgets it did that, that is just fucking crazy.  I tried making a run for Diamond city after I talked to Garvey and company, all that happened was I ended up killed by Super Mutants, a lot.  The game is designed for you to go build those settlements and then help Dense so you got the level and weapons to fight threw to Diamond City.

Oh, Starfield is going to be something else, I can see that already.

And anyway, Fallout 4 is supposed to be a FPS, so what the fuck is the goddamn excuse for that lag crap fest in downtown Boston then Todd Howard? Forget what kind of game you were making, again? And to think I was complaining about Skyrim losing tract of the Civil War because of Vampires in tight leather.

Anyway, it's fun shooting shit now, even if why I am doing makes my brain hurt.

 So to answer my question, after searching around Todd Howard did indeed forget what he was making with Fallout 4. Fallout 4 is better viewed as a tech demo and everything up tell you talk to Piper at the entrance to Diamond City is really part of the tutorial.

But let me focus on the real sin of Fallout 4; the Synths. Seriously Tod; why aren't the Synths, including Valentine, fembots with anime faces and enormous tits? The Institute is clearly run by the literal lowest form of Tech Bro, so for them, humanity refined means something out of crazy a Japanese cartoon. Hello Todd, at lest size 44s or go home, Todd, that is the way.

And just thinking the horrifying things that could be done;

Synth Combat Bark
"I now understand why you are hiding. You are masturbating."

Nick lines
"I went to sleep a middle age man with throat polyps and a bad medical plan and woke up looking that poster I was hiding from parents in my bedroom closet. I never thought I would end up the new Boston Batwanger."

And then when Skinny Malone says "Me and Nick go way back." it would all makes terrible sense.

Just install "Problems of Survivor", Thuggy series and have fun with the game.

I feel ya, lol. It winds me up with Knight Rhys..."You're not the military type...", when the back story for the male pc clearly states otherwise...I was fighting in the war before the nukes dropped, you snivelling lil' bitch.

I play with three options:

1. SKK Synth start - you start as a synth (RPG) pretending to be Nora, to infiltrate the commonwealth and the baby thing is just your backstory you play along with. Explains your combat skills and you job is to infilitrate the other powers. It is an lite RPG mod, and changes the starting area to a synth lab.  All quests untouched, but you get a more believeable start.

2. Start Me Up redux - best option imo. This gives you the choice of being a random wastelander, and other back stories. This mod is not just a start mod, but an alternate main quest mod. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/56984

3. My preferred option. Install SKK Kill Preston, Raider Pet and Nuka Ride. Follow main quest until you get sent to talk to covega and then let yourself be captured. Run the raider pet story (Nora's illusions about herself and the world are destroyed). No one came to rescue you. Fuck the minutemen, return to Sanctuary, kill them all. Having no option left, Nora falls into Nuka Ride and just explores the world instead. Any main quest you just ignore.

Toddy outsourced all this to FO4 modders...
