Bluegunk Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 (edited) THIS QUERY IS NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU TO HELPERS!   Skyrim AE 1.6.353 on PC using Nemesis  I've played for a number of years using Engine Fixes and / or Animation Crash Limit Fix and around 22,000+ animations, and never seen this message up before.  So I am curious what caused it to appear today. I have always had buckets of animations and it's interesting how this points to one HKX/  I'd be grateful for any ideas I can check, excepting of course the obvious reply: "You got too many animations you twit!"     Edited October 22, 2022 by Bluegunk
traison Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 I don't use nemesis, but the word around town is that it comes with an ini file where you can set a new limit. They also say going too far will just result in a CTD, so your imagination is not the limit. 1
Gukahn Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 Congratulations, you hit the Engine Limit. Now uninstall a DAR mod. ? That's it. "You got too many animations you twit!" ? Â I saw this message a very long time ago from another user who was using Dar. Here is another thread in which you can read something about editing the Ini to increase that: Â No promises, I don't use Nemesis 1
Bluegunk Posted October 21, 2022 Author Posted October 21, 2022 (edited) I'm hearing DAR's limit is the issue. So I guess I really am the twit. (October is not a good month for me so far!)  With Skyrim AE I cannot use the DAR Extended DLL I used in SSE, because it has not been ported. (And DAR is only viable for 1.6.353, the update for the latest AE is still in development, with the original author gone missing in action).  Extending the DAR ini so far as I know does not alter the fact there is a hard limit to DAR which I appear to have broken. And it is extended already when I used the extended DLL.  Looks like I am stuck and will have to get rid of some animations! Edited October 21, 2022 by Bluegunk
traison Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 Its unfortunate that the animation limit was set to such a standard number. If it was just one less, or more, it would most likely have been considerably easier to find. Also there's no source available, and I'm not in the disassembling mood right now. That's a roundabout way of saying yes you probably need to remove something.
Bluegunk Posted October 22, 2022 Author Posted October 22, 2022 Already cleared out some stuff. It actually proved a useful exercise in clearing out older DAR animations anyway!
misterpipes Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 DAR 1.1.2 doesn't require the extended DLL, which I think boosted the DAR animation limit to 32000 (its been awhile since I used it). DAR 1.1.2 uses an ini file to set the number of animations it can use (DynamicAnimationReplacer.ini in the same directory as DynamicAnimationReplacer.dll). Its set by default to 0x4000 (16384 animations). You'll see advice about changing it to 0x8000 (32768 animations), but (for me and a number of other people) that just leads to DAR induced CTD times. But you can set that number to anything between 0x4000 and 0x8000, so try decreasing that number until you hit a point where you don't CTD anymore. My setup seems stable (after about 100 hours) with DAR set to 0x7e00 (32256) 0x7d00 is 32000 (same as FNIS XXL)
