Have new patches (Sept 15 and 20) messed things up for people?

I wish this stupid company would leave this 10 year old game alone and only apply updates to the Anniversary addition. Anyway, anyone experienced the new update breaking their SKSE?

Like every update. For the past 6 years.

They change the exe, a new SKSE must be released.

You can avoid updates though. Which you should've been doing since forever. And you can also downgrade too in case you weren't prepared.

SKSE team normally updated their file pretty quickly. About 1 to 3 days after the new update of Skyrim. All other mods will be updated after SKSE. I think the new SKSE64 has already available. Unfortunately, some other important mods, like Racemenu might have to wait for quite some time.

I have been avoiding the updates, but i have to manually hit *pause update* every time I open Steam. I think there's a workaround for this but I forgot it.

I have never updated my SKSE because I have so many old mods. I've just been using the downgrade patcher every time. I guess I'll stick to that

Google "how to disable steam updates skyrim se" and you'll find hundreds of results.

A reply I wrote a few days ago that includes specific instructions to do so:

Avoid Steam updates.

  • Go to your Steam library, find Skyrim SE, right click and select Properties.
  • Go to the UPDATES tab and select "Only update this game when I launch it" and "Never allow background downloads".
  • Launch the game using the SKSE executable and always with Steam already open.
  • (Optional) mark the manifest file for SE read-only:
    • Go to where your Steam is installed and find the "steamapps" folder.
    • Find the "appmanifest_489830.acf" file and right click>Properties.
    • Near the bottom of the properties window enable the Read only setting.
    • Press Apply/Ok and close that folder.
