threp Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 Found an armour I really like - it ticks all the right boxes for me, I love the texture, and really suits my PC. But green is not her colour. She's more very dark reds. How hard can it be to do a colour change, I thought. Turn out for me the answer is close to impossible. Look. Give me paper and a brush and I'm fine. Paints, pastels, charcoals - not a problem. Give me a graphics program and I turn into a total incompetent. I've tried following the tutorial on Nexus and despite it being written incredibly clearly with really good illustrations ... it did no go well at all.
donnerwetter Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 Here is an extremely quick and dirty edit. I just adjusted the hue to make the textures red. reddify.7z Just out of curiosity- which part of the process did you find impossible? With paint.net I could do this in about 5 minutes. 2
threp Posted September 15, 2022 Author Posted September 15, 2022 (edited) That is brilliant. Thank you! I was having a hell of a time using the selection tools following that tutorial. Kept slipping and missing chunks and generally looking slashed and hacked rather than neat. A thumbball mouse really isn't suitable for that sort of work! Gave up and asked for help after 6 hours solid trying to get something decent. Didn't even think of adjusting the hue/saturation - guess I got it in my head that the way from the tutorial was THE way. I appreciate it immensely. Edited September 15, 2022 by threp

My initial idea was to duplicate the texture layer, alter the hue on the upper layer and then erase the all the non-cloth parts to bring out the original colour underneath. However, the belts. straps, etc looked okay even with the hue shifted so I just did that to all of the textures, nice and easy. I usually try to blend my texture edits by feathering my selections or by a combination of duplicated layers and the eraser brush.
threp Posted September 15, 2022 Author Posted September 15, 2022 Trying it out now in game and it looks really good. Sadly it's a rainy day - and yeah. She's tall even without the heels 1

She's tall even without the heels Actually u could make a color in Bodyslide tool without editing and resaving textures to even lower q. Use vertex color shader in nif and BS vertex paint on object vertices (polygons on outfit) to paint it to any color you want. Is better working if outfit is separated in meshes ( Like bra is separated with corset\etc) but also can be painted with hi level polygon meshes ( more vertex precision for painting) Example are Vanilla vine bottles. all use 1 texture but painted for variable color with vertex shader on Edited September 21, 2022 by RomeoZero
