So long story short, I've been reading all these tips and watching videos and I dont know what I did wrong but I did something so badly that Ive just messed up all my files for skyrim and others potently the game wont load, nothing is working and im lost and just to the edge and kinda mad.  I could use help.....

The game won't even finish loading and I have tired and still doesn't fix base skyrim to load.... I have mod manger 2 I used loot and FINS, Thought i got it all good went for Skyui and sks, and then that stopped working saying it wasn't on the right addition I tried to fix but I think I inevitably made it worse and I'm on LE the same one I used for sks....

If you want help you need to give a lot more info than "nothing is working."

At what point does the game crash?

Where did you obtain your game files, and have you tried to re-download the game itself?

What mod installation method/mod manager have you used?

How many mods did you install in total, and how often did you test your game while installing them?

You said you've read tips and watched videos.  Have you read any of the pinned support threads here on LL?  Have you referred to the STEP Guide (Google it, it's easy to find).  As for videos, I highly recommend videos by Gopher and Gamer Poets on youtube.  Their videos are (in my opinion) top of the line in helping people to get started.

What is your load order, and how did you sort it?

Are you absolutely sure that every single mod you have is correct for your version of the game?

People here on LL are more than happy to help, but we don't have crystal balls.

PS:  As far as making a mess of your game, I'm willing to bet that almost all of us on here did the same thing when we first started modding.  Yes, there's a learning curve, and it takes effort on your part, but it's doable.

Ngl I kinda typed it in a panic and angry mood kinda just didn't think about what I thinking for setting this up ngl I'm lost in files trying to figure out where things are and just not in a good mood.

Also my first attempt was good then I messed it up tried to fix it and it just spiraled out of control

This.

Your problem could really be as simple as the wrong version of one mod or a missing master. Or you could literally have one texture file that is in 2047x2048 instead of 2048x2048

Skyrim is...finicky to say the least. Give as much information as you can.  ?

That's unlikely, it was jsut an example of how the smallest ting can be an issue.

What game version are you running, you may have the wrong skse altogether you can check here. Your file path will be a bit different.

for 1.5.97 you need 2.0.20

I figured but honestly I got to be sure. There are countless people that just fuck up on the first step. Go ahead and generate an install list with mo2 if you don't mind and drag/drop that text file here. Hopefully me or someone else here can get you sorted.?

That's honestly not a bad thing. Just make sure you start with skse and create its .ini file? I hope your next attempt goes better than the last. skse should be the very first thing you do always imo.

That might have been the thing I did wrong just not doing it first

Starting fresh is not always a bad thing.  Like I said, a lot of us have been through the same thing.  You can get through it, and then someday it will be you helping another new mod user on this forum.

My first piece of advice is to only install maybe 5 mods at a time.  Then try to run your game and see if it starts OK.  If it runs, then great, you can add 5 more.  If it doesn't start, then you only have 5 potential mods to look at instead of 255.

Made absolutely sure that every mod you install is correct for your game.  If you're running the Anniversary Edition of Skyrim, your mod has to be for Anniversary Edition.  Many mods for different versions of the game (i.e. Legacy Edition or Special Edition) will not work at all with Anniversary Edition, and it's possible that caused some of your issues.

So reading the step guide is there a easy way to move steam and or the files?

Not 100% sure what you mean - do you currently have Steam installed in the x86 Program Files folder?

I'm guessing you could cut and paste the whole folder, but then you'd need to update any shortcuts you have, and you'd also need to update your file paths in Mod Organizer so they point to the right place.
