How to check which character an npc is married to?

i'm making a mod for which i want to check which npcs are married to which. is there an effective way of doing this? i was thinking of maybe using the quest/script that changes relationships when the pc kills somone, but i dont  know where it is

I think it's the "WI" quests and associated scripts.
