Schrobes Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 (edited) I'm looking to get Sims 4 and most likely a few(more?) DLC. With so many DLC available, what can i expect when it comes to mods depending on DLC to work? Will there be a lot, or only a few special occasions? If the case happens to be that there are going to be that many dependencies, could anyone give me their fair list of HAVE to HAVE DLC that they think will give me the best experience with being able to use mods? Thank you. Edited September 2, 2022 by Schrobes redundancies, brain damage
Crashdown117 Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 There aren't that many dependencies and most are stated clearly on the mod download pages, although some are only found within the descriptions for specific features (which normally means that only these specific features depend on some DLC). As an example, WickedWhims (aka "the sex mod") does not have any general dependencies, but the strip club feature requires the "Get To Work" DLC (with the rest of the mod still working fine regardless). Other packs that are required by some mods include "Get Together", "City Living", "Jungle Adventure" and "Get Famous" - all of which aren't bad for playing without mods as well. Some mods also depend on other mods, but sorting that out will only cost you a little bit of time and some space on your hard drive. From my personal experience, the mod with the most "hard" dependencies I know is AEP (a mod about pornography), which requires "Get To Work", "City Living", and "Get Famous". Other custom content like clothes can sometimes depend on some other DLC, including the smaller Stuff Packs, but that's just something to keep in mind for later (in case a CC dress doesn't work in-game or something like that). Finally, some piece of (perhaps redundant) advice: The best (read: cheapest, but still legal) way to get the game and some DLC is to buy Origin keys from vendors on the web. Don't buy directly through Origin/Steam, unless there's a big sale or you desperately want to get rid of your money. Some packs like GTW came out over five years ago, so a price tag of 40 bucks (same as a brand new Expansion Pack) is a bit steep IMO. 1
