axel9fr Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I ask me about about one thing. I have see in the Skyrim Nexus website that there are the first mod for Skyrim. But when I look the directory of my game I don't find the "construction set" utility. Maybe I don't have look correctly. Do you have find them ?
Mordyn Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 No construction set yet, as far as I know. Skyrim has really impressive modders, as these first mods are done "by hand"...
Kelsirion Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 You can use FOMM to extract all the BSA archives. Just load them up as New Vegas BSA's and they open and extract fine. Then edit the animations using the HAVOK plugins, NIF plugins or standard NVidia plugins for the textures. There is no Construction Set out yet, but you can manually edit everything else. Just not create or edit scripts yet.
sora3 Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Not true on the nif as the header is different. The creater of niftools is already on it to see if they can crack that header.
Symon Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 If anyone wants to follow progress, it's happening in this thread:- http://niftools.sourceforge.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3164
Kelsirion Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Thanks for the correction on the NIF tools. I had only edited some of the textures myself after I extracted them, so wasn't aware of the NIF tools not working yet. Has anyone tried to load the Havok files here yet?
ReMeDy Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 People can mod without a construction set. Basically, modders have been ripping the graphics from the game, then simply editing the textures/meshes in .dds compatible art software. Then they save it, upload it to Nexus, and the downloader simply plucks it into their data folder. Any contents in the data folder are given priority over official .bsa files, so the game uses these files instead.
