Sure! It's shorthand for "reference," or in some contexts, "referee." But even posting "reference" by itself, twice in a row, does not make it any less nonsensical than posting "ref" twice, by itself, twice in a row.

 

I get that English isn't your first language, but that gives you no cause to be an asshole when somebody makes a good-natured word-play (in this case, dog barks) on your nonsensical posts.

 

PS: From the context, you probably should have posted "bump." However, that's not what you posted. You posted "ref," which makes no sense, and that's what I responded to.

Ok, I'm sorry, but I thought ref was short for refresh and i saw "ref" in many forums when someone wanted to refresh their topic.

I have more than a half-dozen posts on LL  and even a few (thousand) on the Nexus, both of which have a substantial non-native-English population, and I have never before seen "ref" posted by itself even once, much less twice, irrespective of meaning.

 

In my admittedly-limited online world, when someone wants to renew the community's attention to an existing post that has not had any (recent and/or satisfactory) responses, the term in common use is "bump," meaning to bump the post back up to the top of users' "unread" queue. You might (or might not) care to know that it is considered rude in some circles to bump your own post more than once- it's like rudely posting "ANSWER ME, DAMMIT!" when the reality is that if anyone had an answer for you they would have posted it weeks ago.

 

Some situations simply have no answers. For example, the question of why I keep doing this comes to mind.
