Virus Protection

It’s been a long time since I’ve had my own desktop computer and I’m about to build my own gaming pc for the first time.

I have all the parts and am really looking forward to modding Skyrim.

The only thing is, I really don’t know much about how most virus protection works these days (especially if I would like to enjoy some adult mods).

What advice would you guys give for first-time pc builders for virus protection in regards to modding (or any activity, really)?

afaik the Windows Defender seems to be very good, especially because it's free and build in WIndows...

I still use McAfee as well, because I get it for free (it's included in another software subscribtion, so why not use it)

but if you really don't want to spend any money at all, stick to the Windows Defender.

I've used Malware Bytes to get some really nasty stuff out of my computers at work! Due to the fact that my co-workers are tech illiterate and tend to visit the dumbest websites anyone can think off!

As for my personal PC! I've rarely ever used anything besides Windows Defender, it does it's job well enough, barring the occasional false positives! Also a good Ad-blocker is on your browser is a must!

I either use Brave which has it's own built in, or Ublock Origin on  Palemoon it is spectacularly good!
