The EA TOS change conspiracy theory thread

Ok it's not that serious...maybe. Let's think about potential moves EA could make with the change of TOS. My theory:

1. They put out a change in TOS that includes drastic changes in CC monetization (for a 8 year old game) and also has language about adult content that is a huge gray area, affecting both in ways that is unpopular with  the player base.

2. TS4 takes a hit and justifies the need for TS5 that includes major changes such as NFTs.

3. If CC becomes NFTs in Sims 5, that potentially allows EA to get a cut of CC money normally traded on Patreon with TS4.

4. They sell it as a way to monitor the new game for inappropriate CC and "still support our incredible modding community".

5. Profit.

Post your thoughts and theories.

My conspiracy take is a lot simpler. EA wants to put forward its own equivalent of TSR as a money-maker, and everything else is secondary.  Chase off people like Turbo Driver from selling early access, put the modders out of business, boom. Out comes EA's portal.  I already read (and sorry for not being able to supply the link) of someone saying Sims 5 will have a closed creator store.

That in a nutshell.

As far as the inappropriate (LL) stuff, I'm honestly more creeped out by the Toddlers & Tiaras stuff I see on TSR.

Same here. I wish I could filter out that crap: it's nauseating.

1. we had pedos making mods

2. entitled ragamuffins expecting me to pay 50 dollars a month for all their recolored shit

3.DOXXXING

4. LOL EA WANTS TO DISTRACT US FROM THEIR LATEST FUCK UP

5.LOL EA WANTS TO SELL NFTS

those are my 5 reasons as to why ea wanted to make a policy change.

i feel bad for the creators that actually made stuff and didn't charge me an arm and a leg for it but this is why we can't have nice things.

Is there anything to stop them from doing this and letting modders do NFTs (for a premium)?

What's an NFT?

Keep in mind someone said the other day no early access for mods. Now they're saying early access for mods is allowed and made the whole thing meaningless because "reasonable" is not defined.

I bought Sims 4 because of Sims 3, but didn't play Sims 4 until they fixed it and made it somewhat playable. I'm not likely to even purchase sims 5 due to this broo-ha-ha.

By the time EA releases Sims 5 with NFTs they will be 3/4 through their life cycle and there will be a new "Pump and Dump" sham replacing them :D

I've been wondering lately if they'll take a page from Bethesda and its Creation Kit monetization. I could see them discontinuing support from external mod sites that would host things that wouldn't fly on the official EA mod servers, too. It would be wildly unpopular, but there might be various factors that would incentivize them to try it anyway.
