Diamond Grey Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Ok so I know how to go into steam/steamapps/common/skyrim/textures or meshes. But my problem is that the textures and meshes are not folders they have the internet sign next to them. So how do I put my followers textures and meshes in the textures and meshes if they are not folders? Do I open the textures and meshes through the icon it shows and then drag my followers textures and meshes to it?
Just Don't Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 You got your answer in the other thread 21 hours ago. 21 hours ago, travelmedic said: Assuming your Mod Organizer is properly installed and set up, you install your followers and other mods with MO, and you don't want to manually install them into your game folder. First things first, you should be posting this question in the Skyrim forum where you'll get more help from people familiar with that game. Second thing, look through the Skyrim forum section here on Lovers Lab, there are some pinned threads that give a lot of helpful advice on how to set up and mod your game for people who haven't done it before. Once you're read through some of those pinned threads and tried the suggestions there, you can come back and post if you still have more questions. If you're using MO you should know by now to install and run programs and files through MO. Like the CK, or textures and meshes for a follower, or any other type of file that goes into \Data.

Ok but I am creating my own follower mod and was told to put her textures and meshes into the textures and meshes folder which are not showing as folder icons but internet icons to open them. So how do I get them to show as folder icons, so I can drag my own followers textures and meshes to it?
Just Don't Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 If you're creating your mod using the CK through MO you should be also managing your asset files through MO. So instead of placing textures and meshes in your \Data, create a new empty mod in MO left pane, then place your meshes and textures inside follwing the regular folder structure. If you want to work on your project without MO you shouldn't be using CK through MO at all and do everything manually and outside of MO instead. Side note, in all my years using MO I have never seen any folder as internet icons, so I'm not sure I understand what you're doing to get to that point.

Square one of MO: instead of using your actual \data folder, MO will create a virtual one using all the mods you have installed in it. This is done anytime you launch the game through MO, or any program that requires your other mods (like LOOT, FNIS, BodySlide, CK, xEdit and so on). By extension, if you want to work in a project, like a follower mod, you should run CK through MO and add any files required by your mod as a mod to MO. So you create an empty mod in MO: right click in an empty space in the left side of MO, select "Create empty mod". Give it a name and enable it. Now you can open that mod as a folder (right click in the mod name, "Open in Explorer"). From that point you can treat that folder as your \data folder to work on your project. Any \textures or \meshes folders and files you need to place can go in there, as long as you're following the proper folder structure MO and any program you use through MO (like the CK, xEdit, FNIS, BodySlide, etc.) should see and be able to use these files if needed. You could move your plugin or any other files from your project into that mod, so once everything is done you can go back to that folder (right click, open in explorer) you can take these files and put them in a zip file to upload or share it with others. Ok but I don't have create empty mod as an option. I do have Install mod.
Just Don't Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 (edited) If you click anywhere but an empty space the contextual menu will be a bit different, but the option is definitely still there. For example if you click in a collapsed separator you'll get these options: If you go to "All Mods" the submenu will have these install mod or create empty mod inside said separators. You can save yourself all this extra stuff if you simply right click in an empty part of MO's left pane. If you're struggling to get to this part I seriously don't know what to tell you. Well at the top of MO it says not logged in, could that be it. But then how do I log in tho?
Just Don't Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 (edited) That's for connecting your Nexus account to MO. I seriously doubt this has anything to do with the capability for creating local folders. To login you go to MO settings (it's a button in there, good luck finding it), Nexus tab and select the Connect to Nexus button, then follow the instructions from there. You should really consider learning a bit about the programs you intend to use if you're so committed to working on your project though. Edited July 19, 2022 by Just Don't
