Bluegunk Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Time for stupid question of the week from someone who should know better... ? My Skyrim SSE on PC saves two screenshots in the game folder each time I press the PRT SCRN button. One in PNG and one in BMP. The BMP is the ENB one. I always play offline with Steam, and the Steam screenshot button is disabled (yes - I resent Steam a bit). Skyrim.ini has screenshots on. The ENB doesn't appear to have a "take screenshots" switch. So...how do I remove the duplicate? I just installed this utility: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/64124 which works nicely. But it doesn't stop the PNGs Thanks! ?
belegost Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 (edited) Skyrim has a built-in function for taking screenshots hardcoded to Print Screen key and saves them as .png files by default in the main game folder. Note, this is NOT the same as Steam F12 key which by default saves them to Steam/userdata/<somenumbers>/<somemorenumbers>/remote/<appSteamIDnumber>/screenshots. If the mod you mentioned uses the same button you will get double screenshots. You need to rebind the key in the mod. If not possible, change bAllowScreenshot=1 to bAllowScreenshot=0 in Skyrim.ini and see if that helps. Edited July 6, 2022 by belegost 1
yorpers Posted July 7, 2022 Posted July 7, 2022 (edited) I recommend downloading fraps and using that for screenshots instead. You can choose the format(bmp only for freeware version) and keybind and even do video with it(watermarked video though with the freeware version) It also removes the stutter from taking screenshots and doesn't show a message in the top left. Bluegunk Posted July 7, 2022 Author Posted July 7, 2022 (edited) I have Fraps on board but only use it if I need a video capture. Regardless of the mod I mentioned, I always get duplicate pictures on hitting PRT SC. I don't use the Steam F12; that's disabled and I don't use the Steam overlay in game. I'm assuming the ENB is taking a snapshot but there's no on/off for the process in the ENB. Hmmmm... I think I got to the bottom of this. I can switch off the vanilla game screenshot in Skyrim.ini, and leave the ENB version working. The only way to stop the ENB screenshot process is to move the action key away from the PRT SC key or comment out the key input. I commented out the ENB key input line in ENBLocal.ini. That should resolve it. Thanks all! Edited July 7, 2022 by Bluegunk
