What... is going on here?

The events that led up to this:

MO2 had an issue with running executives and all caused the program to stop responding. I reinstalled mo2, forgot to backup my profiles and spent an annoying 3 days reorganizing everything. I realized that my loot defaulted to an older and different reinstallation, so I reinstalled loot. LOOT no longer sees my current files and gives me errors stating that a large amount of plugins are missing/disabled.

I moved LOOT from my modtools folder straight to the mo2 directory as that's also something common. No changes.

So I manually set the app-data folder in loot settings in the hopes of something changing. Something did change, as shown below. It stopped reading the list in general. It did technically re-order them, as I was getting weird cyclical errors that happen when two plugins are set to load after each other previously. But with this I have no idea if everything will work properly as it looks like it's simply not reading them any more. Just... what is going on here?

The second image shows my original problem without changing the app-data path, where it clearly showcases 255 plugins and like 450 light plugins. So no, the problem isn't from a ludicrous degree of plugins as they functioned properly before the executable issue I've had.

Well, unless of course something else broke after the fact. Adding or removing plugins doesn't change the number of active plugins, although it does change the number of total plugins and does add/remove itself from the list on the left-hand side. The biggest problems are that loot isn't reading things like Weapons Armor clothing clutter fixes, Wintersun, and a bunch of other big(ish?) mods.

Probably, he is right

Did I read that right? 827 Plugin and wondering if something is wrong ?? Strange question . You don't install all of these mods and then go hunting for errors / problems

Disabling plugins doesn't change the total number of plugins on loot. Nothing changes. The esp is removed and yet the number up-top doesn't change.

Since it gives you 4 Warning, before you even run LOOT, run it and see what errors they are. LOOT rarely gets something wrong

Er, the only warning visible is the missing meshes and textures for enb light since there's no .esp.

But other than that, the warnings aren't even appearing on my loot list.

For this, you should look at the ENB you installed to see if, it doesn't require any additional mods

See here, to clarify the matter  Snapdragon Prime ENB  Purely indicative as an example

While we're at it, have you run FNIS ??? Put the report here

Removing some of the normal plugins is reducing the amount of errors. Is 255 as high as LOOT is able to read when it comes to going over the limit? Maybe that's why this is happening.

Thank you for your assistance. In the end, your first comment was actually the closest to finding the issue. LOOT really can't see plugins beyond 255, so it 'disables' the required sum of 'normal' plugins when it's run within its own instance. I was confused because I thought that if this was the issue, I'd see like 259, 265, or something. But no, disabling heavy plugins all-around finally made the plugin number go down and the errors went away because loot was no longer disabling the required plugins I had.

I originally followed a mod-guide, after which I added my own personal preferences to the mix as well. But after running into this issue that had me re-order everything, the guide was updated and the total number of plugins had changed. However, due to my rush, I had not accounted for this change and did not do anything about it.

What does that means? Move what? Why? This isn't common and it solves nothing.

If you're having problems with multiple reinstalls and old profiles or filepaths you should start by fixing that. Next time you reinstall something make sure you have backups prepared of whatever you need (like profiles, saves, config files), and uninstall or remove things in such a way to not let leftover files or folders that could cause a similar issue in the future. Then, if you want to update the install path you use the program's feature to do so, you don't move the LOOT folder from wherever it was into MO2, that changes nothing.

In LOOT you go to File>Settings>select the game you want to manage and edit the "Install Path" field.

You should also verify the MO2 filepaths are correct for your new reinstall (MO2>Setting>Paths) and the executables too (double gear icon). And remove any leftover files or folders from previous installs to avoid more confusions in the future.

TL./DR; when using light plugins the maximum number of active regular plugins is 254.

The maximum number of .esp (regular) plugins is 256. As the count starts at zero this gives the top number as 255.

To use more than 256 plugins, either merge or use light plugins (esl or esp that have been converted).

All light plugins will occupy the final slot (255), thus reducing the maximum number regular plugins to 255. As the range starts at zero, the top number will be 254.

There is a maximum limit for light plugins as well which I can't remember. Search google for more information.
