Cedar Blue Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 Currently I have the Special Edition on Steam, the skse website says I should use anniversary edition unless "I know what I am doing" should I use the AE version instead or do I go with the SE version of skse to match my Skyrim on steam?

Use this one. Disregard everything else except the game version it must always match the version of the game you have installed. "unless you know what you are doing" means they assume everyone is running the latest version which is AE or at least using the BoBW patch that let's you play some AE and SE mods at the same time.
Just Don't Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 To know the game version SKSE refers to you need to go into your game install and check the SkyrimSE.exe properties, in the Details tab find the product version. That's the number you need to check when getting SKSE and any mod with a dll requiring a game or SKSE version in particular. If you haven't done any special steps (disabling automatic updates, downgrading) you have 1.6+ for sure, so using the most recent version is what you want (the Current Aniversary Edition build). That's why the Current Special Edition build has that message, to use it you must know and done something to stay in that specific version of the game.
