I have to say this...

This is one of THE best games I've ever played in my life, nostalgic memories excluded of course. It seems the world is hand crafted with such care, yet it is too big physically for this statement to be true, it is so immersive!

I feel like I could get lost in it, and the mod flood hasn't even begun yet, I'm in awe.

I'll get back here later if I have any disappointments or step upon any hiccups, but so far...Wow!

Good to hear, I think many people here were doubting that the game would be any good. But I've heard so much positive praise so far that that statement is hard to believe! Of course, it's all personal preference.

Can't wait to play the game tomorrow!

My verdict after the two hour play session (I need to get some sleep now!) is that this is quite good game. It's to the Oblivion what Fallout New Vegas was to the Fallout 3: Improved gameplay and return toward the original feel. I have to admit that I wasn't too much fan of the melee in Oblivion, but I already like it in Skyrim. It's quite fun to sneak closer with my Nordette and then let it rip with the two swords...

Almost 2hrs now, playing on ultra high. It's pretty, nice and flows. It's not choppy at all. I have had one lockup though, not sure what caused it.

Also it doesn't take to being alt-tabbed very well, on the 275.33 drivers.

I certainly doubted it. I was somewhat surprised by Skyrim but not always pleasantly. I give it a "meh". Combat is so-so. Atmosphere is pretty good. RPG elements feel dumbed down. Interface makes me want to stuff razorblades in the developer's... well, I really, really hate it. Felt like a lazy port to me.

Of course, I thought Oblivion was a disappointment compared to Morrowind (though still a pretty good game) and disliked Fallout 3, so you can tell how in line with popular opinion I am. If you liked Oblivion, you will probably like Skyrim. I'll be shelving the game until there are mods to fix it to my liking.

First up I lvoe it!! abos-fucking-lutely love it :), lost the last 9 hours of my life (wife stayed up playing her copy till 4:30am) some of it takes abit of getting use to but it works and all I could think of is all the possibilities for naughty mods.

If this is a console port (highly doubt it from the blogs and seeing the actual base + options, plus the fact of parallel development on console and PC) it is the best damn port I have ever seen.

Menu system is wierd on the one hand I loved the old oblivion one and morrowind but I do see the benefit of this system and once you get use to it then it becomes second nature, I now flip through favourites and inventory without a second pause.

Exploring is so much fun and the new magic system totally rocks.

okay back to playing, the ONLY reason I have this screen open is it is on my secondary pc hehe.

I have to agree with the choir of praises... I had my doubts, didn't exactly love Oblivion, but this blew the top of my expectations!

Given, I have only played 4-5 hours so far, and one should be careful until one has gotten a bit into a game to praise it, but so far it has been plain joy!

I had great concerns about wheter my computer would handle it, but I run perfectly smooth on high settings. Having gone from playing my heavily modded FO:NV which crashed about every 15 minutes and had loading times from hell, it's a pure joy how smoothly the game runs.

This is what I once upon a time had hoped Oblivion would be. Also, I always liked the Nords the best, and they have really managed to capture a northern feeling in the world and enviroment. So far I have no complaints.
