Is my install bricked?

So, a bunch of mods that I uninstalled are appearing on this list of warnings and errors. I made a new game after uninstalling these mods and this is still the result. I tried deleting all my other saves since some of them have those mods installed, but this is still the result. I have also tried purging and redeploying all my mods (Vortex) and again, this is still my result. I reinstalled and updated papyrus, and then reinstalled FNIS, same results. Is my install completely bricked, or are there other steps I can take to solve this first?

So they weren't fully uninstalled.

Would have no effect on a new game.  Try to avoid scorched earth tactics when problems appear, you're generally scorching the evidence that could have fixed the problem.

Assuming it works like other virtual mod managers, that should have fixed the issue.  You can always "verify integrity of install" afterward, but if the installation is actually virtual, it shouldn't be leaving residual scripts behind.

 

I'm no expert on Vortex, so can't say too much more here.

Unfortunately, that's not how Vortex works. It writes and delets stuff right in the Data folder. Makes it easier to mess things up ?

Yup. Did you check the internet connection of your coffee machine too? Sometimes they're high on caffeine and do strange things with your hard drive.

 

No, honestly - adding and removing mods is what a mod manager is for, but more often than not they're not fit for the task. Especially Vortex needs ample time to 'deploy' and 'create snapshots'. Don't rush it, only make one change at a time, otherwise that stupid thing gets the hickups.

Assuming that you've stored all your downloads somewhere outside the Data folder (Vortex does that, but I can never remember the path), so that you're having a backup and don't need to download everything anew:

Open Vortex, disable every mod (as said above, one at a time) - this should leave you with quite an empty Data folder (apart from the hundreds of folders with the one 'folder managed by vortex' message). Close Vortex. Now go to Data/Scripts and have a look at the remnants. Move everything that's still there to some backup folder, or if you're brave enough, delete it. Look at your Data folder. Are there any esp's or esm's that aren't plain Skyrim? Get them out of the way.

Start Skyrim - if it doesn't run, try reinstalling. (and give me a hint so I can go into hiding!)

Maybe run FNIS if it's still there, check those error messages and wonder why Vortex didn't clean up a single file here.

 

If Skyrim runs, check your logfiles again, should be clean.

Install the DLCs and LAL, start a new game.

Install Sexlab and all the tiddly bits it needs. Start a new game, open the MCM, initialise sexlab, maybe even save your settings for later games. Make a hard save, which might be the starting point for all future playthroughs, because it has no mods the left remnants in that save.

Proceed with re-enabling the mods you want, but cautiously, and not too many at a time. Always check ingame and afterwards in the logfiles if things are running how you like it.
