How do I find out which mod is causing a missing texture?

I have a small issue, Im wearing the ancient nord helmet and it seems like there was some hair added by a mod, and that hair is purple. Its not  much of a problem since I will probably never use the armor again, but it made me wonder if/how I can find out which mod made those edits and if I maybe can fix the texture. Picture:

the mod itself does not require special hair, you can always try installing some like this one to see if you solve the problem

Go in first person, drop the helmet from your inventory in a way that you can see/click it. Open the console, click the helmet, and you should see which mod made the last edit on that item.

Sometimes the cause for missing textures is a wrong path in the nif file - and most often it's just Skyrim being Skyrim. When I start seeing things in blue that were okay ten minutes ago, it's high time to save, exit, and resume. *sigh*

Yep, I tried that, seems like Sexlab stories made the last edit to the item, I opened the mod in TesVedit and looked for the item in the armor section and there was nothing there...

I have that one installed. To clarify, it seems like the helmet itself has a hair mesh added to itself, so I dont think its a problem with the actual hair of my character.

How to apply Textures   It may help you pinpoint the source of your problem. Just open the helmet nif and use the tutorial as a reference guide

Thanks, I might try that if I have some time.
