Have been trying to get devious devices to work for a year, off and on. For the love of god help me.

For some reason, whenever I install devious devices or a great many other mods my character is invisible. after trying to learn why for a month, I managed to deduce that it was a problem with a mod called bodyside that I somehow installed wrong. After watching a dozen tutorials, all of which gave mutually incompatible instructions, I gave up for a few months. Eventually, I tried again, and this time thought it might be a problem with a mod called cbbe body enhancer. I tried and failed to get it to work for a month. I gave up, and have now decided to try again. I am now 20 hours into this nightmare, and am no closer to getting it to work. I have modded plenty of other games before and never had even a fraction of this difficulty. I have no idea what I am doing wrong, and at this point every tutorial I watch to try and clear up the problem just makes me more confused. I want to go step by step with someone who knows what they are doing, I am so sorry to ask this of someone but I am going fucking insane at this point. please help.

I have reset everything so I can try to do this from the beginning. I have downloaded and installed mod organizer 2 and sse, and linked it to nexus. From what I do manage to understand, the next step would be to download and install bodyslide, and after that every tutorial I have watched gives mutually contradictory instructions about how to "build" it.

That is news to me and I have been producing Bodyslide outfits quite recently.

Can you help then, since you know what you are doing?

I feel your pain there are a ton of tutorials about Bodyside and Outfit Studio that just assume you know how to set it up .Trying to find one that actually shows you how to do it is like finding a needle in a haystack. I had to spend days trolling through tutorials to figure it out.

first of all I am assuming that you are using MO2

A couple of things bodyslide and oufit studio are executables that MO2 Runs, as it need to see any mods in you mod folder  So you need to tell MO2 where the executable is after you install the mod.  Set up executables under tools >executables in MO2 . You need to point mod organiser to the correct executable . Once you have set it up correctly then you

should be able to click on the little arrow to the left of the RUN button and select bodyslide .Check out the file I have included it has a picture that might make things a bit clearer

But it downloaded and installed just fine?

So there are a couple of ways to go about making Bodyslide work,

Easiest way is my way, and I like easy.

Open that Bodyslide up in windows explorer and just move the contents of that Bodyslide mod over to your main Data folder.

image.png

See how I have CalienteTools sitting in DATA?

Now we just do the following,

image.png

You could also OPT to attach the original EXE to the Desktop Taskbar.

Next lets set up a proper Bodyslide Outfits Folder in our MO2 installation.

image.png

Your Computers name\Local\ModOrganizer\SkyrimSE\Mods

Easy way to get there is simply right click any mod in MO then select open in explorer.

Once you are in the Mods folder, make a new Mod call it "Bodyslide Outfits"

Then exit MO and restart it, should now see a Mod called Bodyslide Outfits.

Now we have our Mod folder,

We will place by hand all the exported meshes we make from Bodyslide.

image.png

Yup that is what it looks like when you move the exported meshes folder to your Bodyslide Outfits mod folder in MO.

Of course this is the lazy way, and probably not suggested by people that use Mod Organizer but meh whatever and this is coming from a guy that makes a whole lot of slider sets for people to actually use for Bodyslide.

EDIT,

please note that if you use the LazyWay, you have to put all your slider sets in your primary Skyrim\Data folder as well to actually export your outfits.

Notice the position of the Bodyslide Output folder, its located at the bottom of MO2, this way my output files will overwrite whatever mods are installed in MO2.

image.png

Anyway that other guy that answered you question earlier is being a dick and does not know jack all, Im still producing Bodyslide Slider sets and people are still using them.

Check my signiture, see that I produced almost all the Outfits for Fo4 to be used by IKAROS Atomic Beauty race back in November of 2021...That is very really a shit ton of outfits and very recent considering the body of work that represents all available here on LL.

LadyHorus TERA armor Pack, ya I did that last month.

I also produced nearly all of the UUNP slider sets used in Devious Devices so ya, I know something about the topic.

Thank you for helping. Ok so I added the bodyslide executable, it showed up in mod organizer, I ran it, and It said batch build so I did that. Now what?

I have BodySlide, CBBE, 3BA and a host of other PC body and armor mods. There is nothing wrong with the BodySlide mod, mine works perfectly, no problems of any kind. It must be your build, you're doing or not doing something right. Vortex or MO2? LE, SE or AE, which version are you running. All of these things are factors in how you do your build, but first you have to fix the game and make it "mod ready". If you don't do that, your game will CTD too many times to be able to play the game, mods will not engage in the game and things will be missing. It took me a year and a half to get my build right, 527 mods, 600+ saves, level 28 and more sex than I can handle. "TOYS", oh hell yeah!

Depends on if you set up a Mod Folder for it to export the files too or if not it goes to the Overwrite Folder,

If its in the Overwrite folder, go down there to Overwrite and make it into a mod called BodyslideOutput Folder.

Then maybe go set up your export folder for Bodyslide,

image.png

I used FNIS as example here but the whole premise is the same.

See the

Create Files in Mod Instead of Overwrite?

That tab is where you select your Bodyslide Output folder at.

At this point looking through the comments you now have the official way to set up Bodyslide in MO2 and my Lazy Way....

I totally disagree that Skyrim SE and her mods are "depreciated software". Skyrim SE is the most successfully modded game of the Eldar Scrolls series, in my opinion. Le isn't 64 bit and AE is way too new for mod authors to find all of the new kinks in the game, 10,000 angry cats in a bag, that takes time! SSE has a lot less than that to deal with. My Vortex\FNIS\Skyrim SE works just fine, there MUST be something wrong with your builds.

Export the files to? I pressed a button that said "download", it showed up in the downloads tab of mob organizer. What is an overwrite folder in this context? Where is the bodyslideoutput folder, and is that automatic? So confused.

As far as classes go you are technically in the closest thing to a class we have available....Technical Support thread.

There are of course video classes on offer over at Youtube for people to use and a lot of gamers have success with that.

If you come to tech support you can sometimes get help from a power user or an actual mod developer.

Once you open up bodyslide you will see this,

image.png

You have Presets above, that is the preset you get when you first download a Bodyslide Body, there are a lot of kinds of these.

I am using Touched by Dibella, you might be using CBBE or UUNP only two right now that offer Devious Devices so right now those are your best options!

Anyway,

Down at the bottom of this executable you will see BATCH BUILD, that will export your meshes to the Overwrite Folder.

image.png

You right click that RED "Overwrite", option comes up that says make into a mod.

You select that option, then you name it Bodyslide Output folder.

Then you go here,

See EDIT in Blue?

Now hit edit,

So why have bodyside? what is it good for? Well it can create and morph meshes for armours and or bodies .

For example I have various CBBE Body I can change the PC body  to any of them  and /or change to the armour meshes for my armour /clothes collections to my new preset. There are a ton of variations for CBBE alone all the way from slim to Chubby and in between.

Bodyslide itself is a tool that gives the end-user a way to alter a "Slider Set" to a certain shape of body that the end user can on their own make.

Untitled.png

Bodyslide is a 3rd party program, you the end user have to open Bodyslide application up and dail in what you want with the sliders, example "Huge Breasts" 100%

Now the body has mamooth sized boobs.

'

Then you hit the Batch Build Button.

Those files then export out to the Skyrim\DATA folder by default,

IF you set up Bodyslide properly in MO2 then these either go to the Overwrite Folder, or they go to a folder that you set up in MO2 edit, which is what we have been trying to show you for a while now.

Devious Devices mods use Bodyslide exclusively so that the largest target audience can actually use the kinky devices, we did this because before back in Legendary Edition there were around 50 different body types that each had to have any models used made specifically for that body type.

Bodyslide allowed for a wider range of end-users because now we did not need so many specific body types.  Number of body types fell to around 5 or 6 types with their own bodyslide ranges in each type all would be usable in that range.

-----------------

My picture example is of the Touched by Dibella body type, its not offered yet in Devious Devices, I might change that someday if I get around too it that is >< still a fair bit of work making the slider sets but its a far sight better than having to make an outfit fit every single individual body like we used to have in the past you have no idea how crazy that was back then when every body was set in stone this shape or hit the highway jack.

Bodyslide at least meant that if you wanted say boobs to be bigger or yes even smaller there are people both boys an girls that dont want over sexualized bodies so they have other measurements and can achieve that when using the Bodyslide tool.

Gameplayer, you know your stuff, that's for sure. Nice work on the help! OMG, MO2 looks way too complex for me, Vortex, in my opinion, is a lot more user friendly. I'm a VN Vet with PTSD, my brain can't wrap itself around all of that. Keep up the good work.

Haha, ya I was going to say its right there in your picture :)

Anyway, its probably best as an end user that you have all your bodyslide and bodyslide slider sets set up in your mod manager.

Myself I make a lot of stuff so there is an advantage for me to just set up that stuff in the games root folders, its also sort of lazy.

Better to have you set it up right in MO or Vortex the first time since you will mostly just be playing the game.

WAIT,

not your FNIS folder!

Bodyslide x64 man.

I just used FNIS as an example because I dont have my Bodyslide program in my MO executables because my stuff has to be in my Skyrim\DATA folder because I make mods for the game.

Sorry about the confusion.

For FNIS you want your output folder to be named "FNIS Output folder" because well you will be using FNIS real real soon.
