At the moment, the only progress I can report is that I mostly have the mechanic down, which will be used by the captors to lead the captives from the Inn to an AS slave dealership, but other than that, progress is minimal, on this mod. Lately, I have been focusing on AS, which will be most likely the next update I release. The good (or bad, depending on the point of view) news is that I quit my very time-intensive job, and will thus soon have plenty of time, again, to work on my mods, so hopefully things will start moving a bit, again. I'm definitely not abandoning anything yet.
theversus001 Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Still waiting for updates of this great mod!

I was riding a wave, making good progress, but then work came up, and I had to leave for three weeks (during that time I had no energy to continue, and only managed to prepare some statics for another mod, far away in the future), and then caught a terrible cold, and I've lost all the momentum. Now I'm trying to collect myself for another go. Worst case scenario, I'll publish what I have now, before Christmas, so people can at least get a taste of the new method I was bragging about, but the outcome of the mod isn't made yet, so the mod leads to a dead end. SS++ won't work either, because that will be reworked, too – the player will be walked in a caravan to Riften, right to the SS++ door. That's the plan, anyway. I'm currently working on other projects, waiting for the appetite to build up to start another wave. I wish I had better news. But my will to continue is still undeterred.
Kuatt Posted December 25, 2023 Posted December 25, 2023 (edited) I've tried the newest version and I've enjoyed what I've been able to see very much, so I hope you get your inspiration back and continue this, since it seems like a great mod in the making. I haven't had any luck in triggering the additional scenes though. Once the PC is put in the cage, that's it, nothing more happens. My experience with modding is zero, so I don't really have any useful feedback as to the why, other than apparently the "InCage" quest's aliases are, at least in my game, failing to fill, but I don't know if that helps you. In any case, thank you for your work, and I hope to see more! Edited December 25, 2023 by Kuatt 1

The info about the aliases is actually quite helpful, although I'm not sure how to address it, as those are direct references, but it's more than I knew before you wrote. Did you try to save and reload your game once in the cage? That unstucks the additional scene for me. As form my inspiration, it's been back for a few weeks now, actually, but (un)fortunately, I got a job (I'm a freelancer) which will keep me busy until mid-January. So no updates until then. Or just very minor ones. This always happens. Once I get in the zone, I get work, and then I'm out of the zone again. But that's life.

I'll try and redefine the aliases in a different way, when I get back home, maybe that will help. Its still curious that all this worked without a hitch, before I had to reinstall Skyrim and the CK... (apart from disabling the controls not working properly after SL animations).
Giga-Bool Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 In the cage but it keeps telling me that I'm too terrified to sleep. Waited about a day and half and still too terrified. Reloaded the game too and my character is still too terrified. Any suggestions?
Lady Wintrish Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 I think this would work better like a simple quest with predetermined duration (idk, maybe a week or two of imprisonment?). That way Simple Slavery will not be a requirement. Maybe first time you go there you can be enslaved. After the quest end you can return later on and get revenge by taking possession of the inn and enslave the innkeeper? Just some ideas. Thank you for the mod!

As indicated above, might have something to do with aliases. The scene should start within two real-life minutes of the last scene. Being terrified is as it should be. This state only ends after the scene that refuses to play.

The script and most of the voice files are already finished. There will be some more abuse, and other events (no spoilers), before the player is finally taken, on foot, in one of those Frostbite Clan caravans, either to the Whiterun outpost, to be locked up there, or to Riften, to SS++ (MCM toggle/random chance). Once in Whiterun, another upcoming mod will take over. All is well planned out, pretty far ahead. I just need to find the time to do all this. And overcome some of the more resilient hurdles, like the player control deactivation constantly failing after SL animations (this is what actually takes up most of development time. If it weren't for this, this mod would probably already have been finished).

I solve most freezes when scripts dont work correctly with the disable/enable. Strangely it works well lol. Anyways, Hope it all works out well!

enkiduk Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 Hi! Thank you for your work. A Perilous Inn SE and Ambient Slaves SE look promising, just wanted to ask how the mods are coming along.

Given that the work on the mods, along with the learning of the ins and outs of CK and papyrus (very frustrating), consumes copious amounts of time (several hundred hours went into the last unfinished iteration of API, alone), I am unfortunately unable to progress, unless there is a gap between the jobs I work normally on (translation), as a freelancer. I am just finishing one such job, so hopefully I'll get back to it soon, but there's no telling when the next job comes, and I need to put food on the table. I'd love to do this full time, with the help of Patreon, but somehow I'm doubtful I have gathered a large enough following for that to be feasible. Nevertheless, I have decided that I will start advertising my Patreon once I have a working full release of API, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I'd have to raise at least 1200 bucks per month to survive. Until then, releases will stay very sporadic. When they do come, it usually means I'm having a very bad time, financially :D

I won't say so ) On the other hand, based on the same experience, I can safely say that with serious effort, enough time, frequent updates and the right approach, it is still possible to make money on Patreon. (But I don't know the status of earning from mods on Patreon). Right now, I can only sincerely wish you good luck, bro, and don't procrastinate on Patreon (I guess Subsribestar and an active Discord wouldn't hurt either). 1
Gamer_Auto Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 Quote PLEASE NOTE: - You will be robbed of all of your possessions, including quest items, and at the moment, you can't really get your stuff back (you may be able to buy it back, but since this part of the mod is still under development, issues will likely arise; currently, the mod is intended to be used as a one-use, one-way ticket to SS++). - This is a very early version, and due to a lack of time, the current features had been tested nowhere near enough. The mod is fairly script-heavy and many of its features are a first for me, so expect bugs (please report), and use at your own risk. - You will only get enslaved, if you dismiss your follower(s), before you enter the inn. - It is not intended for the player to best the captors, in case he or she decides to resist, but in case you somehow manage to defeat them, it might prove difficult/impossible to leave the inn (future updates should improve on this). - Though Simple Slavery ++ is not a hard requirement, without it, if captured, you will never be able to leave your cell (other than by means of a console command) Apologies if this is stuff that's been previously suggested or was already thought up, but I saw these notes and just wanted to talk about them. IDK if this is a planned feature, but I feel like having the options to buy your stuff back, steal it back, or pillage it back (depending on playstyle) would be good. Maybe if you fail any of these routes, you get sent back to any compatible PC enslavement system to be redistributed into another slave scenario. Only PC enslavement is fine for the base features of the mod. I'm sure it's different and possibly more difficult to manipulate a follower's data like that. But if and when follower compatibility is added, having a quest to get them back (possibly from your own Ambient Slaves mod) would be a nice touch. If it's not intended for the player to best their captors, then I would suggest having them be in a low-level area of some kind; maybe not directly next to Whiterun Keep, but somewhere within that hold. Somewhere a lower-leveled player would be capable of reaching, but not escaping. I would have any locks and speech checks be the highest the game naturally allows, and have the slavers' combat proficiency be around...I wouldn't say Ebony Warrior level, but somewhere in the higher enemy tiers. If this is to be a one-time-trick obstacle, then the player should be capable of returning when they're at a greater power level and get that satisfying feeling of enacting revenge on the slavers they were so powerless against before. If you're capable of adding in details later, have the "inn keep" not recognize the player after the PC is equivalent or superior in level. A potential trigger could be trying to order food. If you go to the "inn keep" and ask for food, you have to rent a room for the night before ordering something to eat or drink; because "we're not a bar, after all". Then perhaps they spike the food to "make you feel sleepy" (without any Survival mods, this would just be an annoying visual effect that can't go away without sleeping it off).

Hey, thank you for the suggestions, but, as is apparent, I barely manage to get the base features of my mods working, and it takes me forever to get anything done, so I'm sorry, but the things you listed just don't have a high-enough priority and will therefore probably never get done by me. But anyone is welcome to make addons, plugins etc. for my framevork, or make versions thereof, so feel free to do so and share the result

Like I said, was just talking about it; I saw your initial post about the slow work pace. I'm not a mod creator myself, but I'm happy to let others who are use my ideas.

As soon as an SL animation plays, the player control lock, which is essential for the mechanics, either stops working entirely, or is unreliable, and I can't figure out why, nor do I know where to ask. I posted several questions about this in various places, but to no avail... I guess I need a somewhat longer pause, this time, to build up some enthusiasm again, If only some experienced modder would be willing to teach me. Something like 90% of the time making my mods, I spend googling, looking for answers how to solve the issues produced by Bethesda's shitty engine. That's no fun at all.
