xnajoe Posted May 17, 2022 Posted May 17, 2022 Hey everyone, Ā So V Rising has just come out on Steam today in Early Access,Ā https://store.steampowered.com/app/1604030/V_Rising/Ā So far its getting very positive feedback and i have a feeling it will be rather popular. The game it self has a basic character creator, so i was hoping one of you amazing modders might be interested in taking a look at it to see if you can make a nude mod. Ā Maybe you could make one of the armour/cloths you ware lewd and revealing or maybe just remove default outfit to be fully nude? Ā 6

Unity itself isn't the most mod friendly engine to start, but not impossible. We won't really know until someone takes a shot at it. 2
Zakeriel Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 Good old AssetStudio can export textures from gae, but sadly cant import them back. For example, male body texture. 2
xnajoe Posted May 23, 2022 Author Posted May 23, 2022 Well thats good to know at least we can get textures out of the game. Hopefully it wont be too hard to say make the default underwear a nude texture and import it back. Even if we have to wait a little bit for a new tool to import them back in.

Ibsum Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 (edited) So I've been working on this for the last couple of days, and I have finally figured out how to do the retexturing. I am sharing this very early so i haven't done any more than remove the rags in the player textures, as well as the base outfit when you have no armor equipped. Spoiler Ā I am however working on remodeling the mesh and planning to do a proper retexture when I have a result I am happy with. Ā Ā In any case, sharing my current progress for you all to play with. Spoiler VNude_V0_1.rarVNude_V0_1_Manual Install.rar Ā If the .exe does not work, you can instead download the manual installation. Ā Automatic install: - For some reason this only works if your game directory is C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\VRising - Download VNude_V0_1.rar - Extract the .rar file to anywhere on your computer. - Run VNude_Vx_x.exe - Click next until the mod is installed. - Done. Ā Note, you do not have to select the game directory as I first thought, as the installer will look in the same place no matter what. Ā Manual Installation:Ā - DownloadĀ VNude_V0_1_Manual Install.rar - Extract the two folders into your game directory, e.g:Ā C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\VRising - Replace all files. - Done. Ā And for anyone wondering, I used AssetStudio for previewing and extracting the files as well as finding the bundles they are stored in, and ABE (AssetBundle Extractor) to import them into the game and make the mod installer. Ā Edited July 24, 2022 by Ibsum Added manual Install. 14

Ā Ā Looks really good in-game! Props for removing the male clothing as well. What's the point in being super strong and undead if I can't see abs you could cut jewels on? Excited for the remesh, but this is a very good start.

Ā Hey thanks for the work. Unfortunately it seems like selecting the install path doesn't change where it tries to install. Ā Ā Edit:: As a workaround I copied the affected bundles to the path the .exe wants to install to and ran the program. It said it was successful so I copied the bundles back to where the game is actually installed. In case anyone else has trouble, run it as admin since it wants to install to a system folder. Ā Sorry for the delay, wasnt getting anywhere so took some time off from the project, also wanted to wait until I had more to show for it. But will try to look more into it now. Ā So far I have the mesh ready though might have to redo it due to issues importing into the game.Ā If anyone have any tips, or can help with this then that would be great (more info under the spoiler.) Spoiler In short, replacing the mesh gives me this result. While fun to play around with, it's not what I want. Also tried to change the 'Avatar' that the mesh uses but then I get this spaghetti as a result, from my limited experience this has to do with the scaling / system units in the 3d programs of the original and new meshes not matching, or a difference in the bones / skinning. Ā Ā However, in my newest attempts, I am using a mesh where I haven't added any new vertices, just moved around the old ones, so there should be no issues with the bones / skinning. And from what Unity is telling me the two meshes were both made with CM as the system units. Ā In better news however. The statues you can get in the game are about as easy to change as the textures. Just extract the mesh from the game (or make a new one if you so wish) and replace it the game file using UABE. There are more steps to it, as UABE doesn't import OBJ or FBX files, but wont go into that unless someone wants to know. So anyone who is interested in changing those can do so quite easily. Spoiler For the test I just tried to remove the sword from this statue. Ā And this was the result. Think there are some issues where the mesh looks for a different material now, so might want to look into that. Ā Ā 2

Ibsum Posted August 14, 2022 Posted August 14, 2022 Unfortunately it does not seem possible to replace the mesh after all. At the very least I have noe idea how to do it, and I am all out of idea's of how to try. Ā One of the issues is that the time it takes me to test something is way too long as I have to change the gamefiles, then run the game. Preferably I would just have the game's prefab for the character in which I could replace the mesh and run an animation to see if it works. Ā However, none of the tools I use to get the files from the game, or even any tools I have seen that supposedly can get you the prefab are able to do so. And even if they could, I have noticed from other projects that if you make a prefab with a mesh on one PC, then replace that mesh on another PC, even if you dont make any changes to the mesh and you have all the same settings, you still get the spaghetti of a mess that I showed in a previous post. Ā Therefore I'm gonna have to put this project on hold until I can atleast get the prefabs or someone with more experience modding unity see this and are able to help me. Ā TLDR; Testing process is too long, modding tools dont do what I need them to, Unity is complete shit. Putting on hold until something gets better. Ā
