GameModsGuy Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 I know this may be a stretch but, for me CTD's and infinite loading screens are an eternal hell of a headache, and I was wondering if there's any mod that exists to prevent the game from closing during a crash and instead brings up an error report to show what caused the crash. I wouldn't really mind if it ran outside of the game (like analyzing it while it runs till it crashes or something)
Spyder Arachnid Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Well you can always enable papyrus logging. this way you can see what scripts were running before the crash happened. Open your "skyrim.ini" in your Documents/My Games/Skyrim folder. Change these lines. [Papyrus]bEnableLogging=1bEnableTrace=1bLoadDebugInformation = 1 This way next time you crash, you can go into Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Logs\Script and open the first papyrus log (number 0 will always be the recent one). Then scroll to the bottom to see what was running last before you crashed. This will help you troubleshoot your crashing and hopefully you can work to repair it.

Thanks, I'll try that, hopefully it'll help me narrow it down
van_gelis Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Well if it is an instant crash (CTD) then nothing of the above will help the safest bet is always trial and error and lots(like hours lots) of reading.
thatTESguy Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Crashes out of the blue seem like memory issues ... and it just so happens that the front page of Skyrim Nexus has a possible fix if you're using ENB (and even if you don't): http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/38649//? This memory issue had been documented well in the STEP forums (lost the thread now, but it was hundreds of pages) and is a well known bug that can't be competely fixed without a x64 EXE. Boris, though, seemed to have taken steps to greatly reduce this problem. Haven't had the chance to test the above mod yet. Breifly, to monitor this issue, look at memory (private working set) in task manager, and notice if it crashes around 3000-3100MB. A multi monitor setup is good for this.
Uriel Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Use ENB's new memory consumption fix. Will help if your crashes are related to reaching a 3.1Gb limit.
