My Settings: -no OP/reward traits that influence fertility -no WW menstrual cycles - player/NPC pregnancy chance: 10% - npcs barely use/carry birth control, realistic birth control (can fail, but rarely) I'm trying to keep it a little challenging so j can build a story around it, but is there anything you would tweak? Also, I'm trying to make this a generational playthrough. My age spans are normally super long, but I've been thinking about shortening them for more progression in my world. Any ideas for age spans? I'd make baby-child shorter, and teen/YA/Adult a little longer.
Kashked Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 For age-spans, if you want to keep it consistent decide on how "long a day is", and then go from there. I have decided that one day for the sim is 6 months, and set everything after that. Pregnancy is 2 days (as close to 9 months I can get), baby is 2 days (kids usually learn to walk around 1 year old), toddler is 12 days (age 1-7) etc. Now if you use my settings, the lifespans are still damned long, but you can get more progression if you make 1 day=1 year, although that will make certain things like getting good grades and earning childhoods traits damned hard. Originally I used the vanilla 3-day pregancy to set each day as 3 months, but at that pace the game became too easy, and far too drawn out, although pregancy and university atleast made sense. I am at a comfortable balance I feel with my settings. The end results is that all the adult lifestages, including elder, are much longer, while the baby through teen lifestages are, proportionally, shorter. I've also shortened university to only 8 credits so you can do it in 2 weeks, i.e. 10 workdays=5 years. Only reasons I haven't made it just 4 credits is because it makes it virtually impossible to succeed at the e-sports or football activities, or succeed at the university aspiration without taking out multiple degrees.

The sim I've built for this a Painter, Pornstar, and part-time meth dealer. The funny part of the story I'm building is the fact that while my sim wants 100 kids, he has no idea how he's going to afford any of it ?.
