[Request] A Bridge to Allow Defeat to Utilise SM Essential Player

Hi there,

When using Defeat, I find that the essential function oftentimes doesn't work, in most instances the player will die and the camera will spin around extremely fast, I read somewhere that this will usually happen when one has a heavily modded game (or script heavy game?), and I won't lie... I've had to mark a lot of mods as light; however, while using another mod called SM Essential Player SE found on NexusMods, this never fails to keep the player alive, I'm not sure what it's doing differently but unfortunately (and rather obviously), Defeat can't actually use SM Essential to function.

I was rather hoping someone would be able to create a bridge between the two to allow Defeat to use SM Essential to keep the player alive, while triggering defeat scenarios; this way players will have a reliable essential function, without having to give up on using Defeat.

Truth be told, I'm not entirely sure this is possible, but if it is, I, and I'm sure many others, would greatly appreciate it.

Cheers!

Defeat is quite reliable at what it does.

Do you have "can be knocked down by anyone" ticked? Might be that you dont have animations for agressors attacking, in that case - defeat will let you die.

Besides that, i believe ive ran both way back when by setting a very low HP treshhold and no bleedout option combined with SM, you might try that.

Defeat does work on occasion, very rarely but still at times, so I know it's capable of doing what it's supposed to in my save, it's apparently just not as reliable during heavy script usage.
I found the post that I read on this.

Using the Defeat health threshold with SM's essential mechanic might be the way to go actually.

Must be something else interfering with it. Script load can potentially slow stuff down, but not really prevent it from working. This gentlemen explained it way better than i ever could:

I had some difficulty reading that but if I understand it correctly then I shouldn't be having a problem running the essential function from Defeat.
It's strange however, that the mod seems to work without many other mods but begins breaking once a seemingly arbitrary threshold has been passed.

If SM Essential really isn't doing anything different from Defeat, then Defeat has to be the culprit, which doesn't bode well as Defeat is looking for it's own essential function to run it's other scenarios, for instance: Defeat isn't going to allow the player to struggle, nor even allow the player to be captured if SM is the mod keeping the player alive because Defeat is looking for it's own mod.

It seems the only options here is for the developer of Defeat to fix their mod; for a user to create a bridge allowing Defeat to use SM Essential, for me to find a different mod that does something similar, or to use your previous suggestion of using Defeat's health threshold while relying on SM to keep me alive.

I found this article on NexusMods essentially explaining the same thing, it's actually pretty interesting to learn about, I didn't realise scripts could be processed so fast, I just assumed it look a while for some to function, and so I assumed Defeat just wasn't running it's essential function fast enough, so the game would kill the player before Defeat could stop it from happening.
