so i recently got bock into modding, last time i was doing so se had effectively just started to get mods and nemesis was a baby, but now it seems both have for lack of a better term "matured" enough to be roughly comparable to their predecessors which is making me wonder about their actual benefits over what came before. for instance what mechanical benefit does special edition or anniversary edition over just having legendary edition with ENB plugged in?

also considering nemesis' capability to mimic fnis apparently why isn't it promoted over fnis for use with sexlab considering all it's benefits(?),  of which i can only think of it's baller combat animation mods.

i am a old man and new things, especially when left unspoken confuse me.

Despite it being open source it hasn't seen much development, I mean it hasn't been updated in almost 2 years. While new mods using Nemesis are being made, it still has some core limitations. Like the lack of support for creature animations, so if you want that you'll need to stick to FNIS. If one of your combat/movement mods requires Nemesis, you'll have to go with it. And if you want both, it's possible to run both tools to update your behavior files and cover everything, but it does require some additional steps and involvement.

The LE vs SE question is old. And the most straightforward answer is if you really want to play with a mod that is only available on LE and you're really happy and familiar with LE, go for LE. And if you really want to play with a mod that is only available on SE and you're really happy and familiar with SE, go for SE.

If you're not sold on either I'd say LE has tons of content, old and new stuff alike to go through. On the other hand SE has some new mods but you still need to port some things yourself or look for alternatives to older LE mods. And since the last update (around November 2021) people are very mad because now you need to keep in mind the game and SKSE versions you have installed while adding or updating certain mods. Like, seriously, everyone forgot to disable their Steam automatic updates and the forums were flooding with people screaming bloody murder over their games. Sad times.
