CTD on save game load but new games work fine

Like the title says I can start a new game fine but whenever I try to load a save it crashes with this log.  Crash_2022_3_13_3-58-25.txt I'm playing The Phoenix Project Dragons edition with a few added mods btw. Any help would be appreciated!

Your save game has bugs.

 

At a guess, it might have been caused by a glitch during or leading up to the save process which leaves it corrupt, (sometimes this happens), or it could have been caused by an undocumented mod contention.  Usually, the end-game solution is to backtrack a few saves until you find one that works, accepting whatever level or bauble acquisition lost by the backtracking, and move on from there instead of spinning your wheels on a corrupt save.

 

A second scenario is when you've just installed a mod and the save now won't open.  Best bet there (IME) is uninstall the offending mod. (or fix the mod). Or even better, uninstall the mod, figure out the issue while still being able to play the game, get the solution, then reinstall and fix.

 

A third, best-case scenario, is one in which a few scripts and other residuals are left behind in the save file, which for whatever reason cause load issues, BUT they are of the type that can easily be purged using Fallrim tools "Resaver" app. In my experience, this one is rare in comparison to the other, but sometimes it's a nice reprieve. In any case, sometimes cleaning a save is enough.
