Newbie help - how can i check which mods might be buggy or not work well together?

I bought the base game yesterday and having fun so far, but i wonder if there are some quality of life tools like for Skyrim, e.g. a mod manager program which can help find errors when mods interfere with each other in a bad way.

Is there somewhere a good guide in this regard which additional programs i should install or how to check if everything is working as it should? Haven't found anything so far glancing at the stickies, thanks in advance.

Also is there a dlc which is more or less essential? They seem kinda numerous and expensive unfortunately, so i am very reluctant buying more.

Modding Sims is nothing like Skyrim and Mod Managers don't work plus they aren't needed.

Many Mods like MCCC have built in error reporting about Mod conflicts, duplicates, etc., but they only report errors after they happen and not before.

There are tons of different Mods/CC for Sims so take your time and don't become overwhelmed and adding 20 Mods at one time.

Start with one or two and test them in game first to make sure they work before adding any more.

It helps to read all the info about each Mod before installing as they often list other Mods they will conflict with as they use the same game resources.

The main thing is to not use more than one Default Skin or Body Parts at a time but use non defaults and Overlays instead.

Stick with the popular Mods that are updated regularly and avoid the older obsolete Mods.

None are really essential but if you want to use Wicked Whims Strip Clubs for example you need the Get To Work DLC.

But the rest of Wicked Whims features still work without any DLC's.

Best to buy DLC's on 50% off sales when you want any and I've used CDKeys before as they have even better sales than Origin/EA.

I've only seen them available for Origin users and not for Steam tho.

My favorite DLC's are Get Together & Spa Day but everyone has their own individual favorites.
