Oh if you are on holiday and it is possible check some magazine stands etc for computer magazines. There are lots of info in them for the budding computer nerd. There might even be one where they go through the process of building a computer with all the parts and why they were chosen. I read a magazine and followed the instructing and build my very first computer (full build) using the magazine. It went off fabulously. You can read and re-read it during some down time. Waiting or if flying or taking a train  etc. If you do this you will begin to understand if you are up to the task and confident in your skills to tackle this or not.
