Results of CPU upgrade.

I upgraded my CPU today. Went from a Ryzen 3 3100 to a Ryzen 7 5800X.

 

Benchmarks show the new CPU to be 2.1x faster than the old one.

 

VX does not appear to startup any faster and rooms don't load any faster (maybe by only a second or two), but frame rates have noticeably improved. One very slow room stuffed with a dozen Hook 5 objects used to be unusable b/c it was so slow. Now I can move thru the room nice & smooth. Upgrading the CPU improved my FPS more than upgrading my videocard did (TK17 isn't helped much by a fast graphics card.)

 

So, if you are looking to upgrade just to improve the speed of TK17, focus on a CPU upgrade over a videocard upgrade. Not only will it do more to improve TK17, but the benefits go well beyond just this one program.

Nice! I have a Ryzen 3600. went from a 1600 two years ago and noticed a difference.
