My Pet Dragon

DragonFlying.jpg

This mod provides you with a dragon companion that you can fly around Skyrim on as well as a pretty cool shield you can use in your quest to defeat Alduin.  This will be an episodic release.  The first is a female companion designed for male players.  There is no restriction on which gender can play it, but all the dialog is written for a male player, so please no comments on the inappropriateness of the dialog for female players.  We will be releasing a version that has a male protagonist for female players fairly soon.

The female companion is Aria.  Aria was raised in isolation away from other human contact.  Her parents taught her everything they knew except about basic human interaction.  She has never seen a naked male.  She was never kissed with passion.  She knows very little about her own body and knows nothing of her attraction to males and that males would be attracted to her.  She has never been in an Inn and never tasted anything alcoholic.  Her entire existence has been in books.  She is endearing, beautiful and brilliant.  She is also completely socially ignorant.  She has spent the last 200 years by herself and can't possibly understand why it would be a bad thing for her to be naked.

Note 1 - This version has no sex in it.  If you are looking for that, look elsewhere.  As we add more to this story, sexual encounters will become possible depending on your choices.

Note 2 - This episode ends with dialog about going to an in.  That quest which is the start of her journey is not included.  Instead, the quest marker takes you back to her father which ends the introduction and allows you to fly on your dragon right away instead of traversing the whole quest chain.

To Start your Quest

You must be level 14 and less than level 40, have not killed Paarthanax and killed your first dragon outside Whiterun (MQ105 stage 10 or greater).  Then, go outside in any major city twice and you will get a note to start the quest.  The initial quest is fairly short and then you meet Aria and then finally, get your dragon.

Warning:

Save your game before adding this mod.  If we move forward with this, you will not be able to just install a newer version over top of this one.  You will have to load your save from before you had this mod and then install the new version.  There is nothing here that should keep a script running in your save, but it is better to be safe than sorry.

How to Fly Your Dragon

Spoiler

Once you complete the main quest, you will have a dialog option to fly.  Choose that option.  When the dragon appears, it will fly in the air and then land again near you.  Approach the head and mouse over it then click or press "E" on the "Mount" selection.  If you don't get on fast enough, the dragon will fly again circling your and then eventually fly off.  Before that happens, use the spell you just got to make it land and try again to mount it.  If you fail within 5 minutes to get on it, it will fly away.  If that happens, go back to the crypt and summon it using the other spell you got.  This sounds a bit complicated, but once you do it a time or two, it becomes easy.

The primary purpose of this release is to get feedback on the dragon flying aspects.  If you have trouble flying your dragon please post your issues below and include your load order.  I have tested this on a mid-level machine and a low-level machine and the flying works fine for me.  However I do not have any big texture mods in my load order and that may be an issue.  You are flying over large swaths of terrain that requires lots of cell loads.

Note that there is NO scripting of the flying.  If you have issues, script load will not be an issue unless you are so heavily loaded that cell draws are delayed.  You WILL likely have issues with "Birds of Skyrim" and possibly "Wet and Cold".  We use the vanilla dragon flying mechanics, so if you can fly other dragons, you should be able to fly this one.

I am looking for feedback on this mod.  If you like the concept and idea, I will move forward with it.  If not, I will not do any further development.

This mod is a collaboration between my self, @Brvtality and several others.  Without their contributions, this mod would never have come about.

Special thanks to @CuddlyBun.  She graciously edited and mostly rewrote the lore documents.  You will find these books as you go through the mod.  Take the time to read them.  They alone are worth the price of admission. They are so good that I will post them on the forum separately.

Additional thanks to Deserter X, dianka33, Jeir and docteure over on Nexus for the amazing DX Crimpson Blood Armor that Aria wears with their permission.

Thanks also to the contributors of KS Hairdos which we also use with their permission.

Installation

Install the main mod from Mega using the obsure (GF4OY...)  link at the top of the download section.  At some point, I'll break out the textures so that the mod can fit here entirely on Lovers Lab.  It is currently too large.   That is all you will need with this mod.  As time goes by, we will be adding some romantic encounters.  When that happens, you can use either Sexlab or Flowergirls for the animations.  If you use Flowergirls, you will also need the "My Pet Dragon - FlowerGirlsInterface -BSA" that is found in the download section.

I like it. It looks interesting. I will not be able to try it, until a few days, as just arrived a couple of 1 TB NVMe and a 2 TB HDD  I ordered,  and I have to format the pc etc.

But once i have played some days, skyrim with your mod, i will give you my opinion :). I think it looks promising.

Tried it on my existing save, had to use the console to add another scroll and reduce the dragons level for the scroll spell to work as the scroll said it would work on stuff up to level 108 but the dragon was level 133 (PC was level 107) so first time i tried it didnt work which might not be an issue if you do the quest earlier on in a game

Flying worked okay for me but i take it the standard thing with dragon flying applies in that you can't directly control the direction of travel (like on a mount) so i flew around a bit, attacked some stuff and then dismounted

Dunno if it was meant to happen but when i dismounted we got into a fight as the transform back happened and she appeared to be using her dragon breath attack

Thanks pinky.  Never thought of having a 100+ level pc.  I'll have to change that spell to allow for higher levels.

So you got into a fight with Aria when you dismounted or with something nearby?  She will use her dragon breath from time to time.

Yeah i was button mashing as i couldnt remember the controls for when you fly on a dragon so we ended up dismounting in amongst a bunch of bandits and when she transformd rather than draw her swords she was doing the animation/pose like when you cast the novice flame spell but the fire was the dragon breathe one

Yep, she has dragon breath as her single spell, but she is mostly a two handed fighter.

Seems like I met all the requirements but still no quests :(

Some things to test:

sqv AeraMainQuest

Post whether or not it is running and what stage if it is running.

sqv MQ105

Should be running and stage >= 10

sqv AeraGiveNoteQuest

should not be running.

If you go outside then in any major city, AeraGiveNoteQuest runs and starts AeraMainQuest.  At this point, the vanilla courier has a note in his pouch to give to you.

Edit:  You need to be level 14, not level 13.

I finally received a note from the courier and the quest triggered, thank you for your concern :D

It's possible for a follower to have dialogue that branches depending on whether the PC is male or female. It doesn't have to be a one or the other scenario. If you look at the vanilla dialogue, it shows the dialogue conditions to have dialogue for both.

If you decided to go that route, it would open interesting possibilities, given the NPC's backstory. A hetero female PC could, for example, introduce her the pleasures of men. Or a bi PC could introduce her to all pleasures, etc. And given that female PC characters seem to be the overwhelming majority, it might be worth looking into.

Yes, it is possible to do that.  However, we are going to have a male protagonist for female players in addition to the female protagonist for male players.  When that happens, you will not have a choice as to which gender you get.

And, as stated earlier, this is not going to be a sex mod.  If you want sex, you will have to work for it romantically.

Having said all this, I really appreciate your your feedback and would love to hear any additional ideas you may have, especially as to dialog topics.

PLEASE, I had no part in this mod.  I agreed to participate in a different mod, represented as different.  This is not something I would be a part of.  Period.  I have asked nicely.  Please, be respectful

getting a werid issue after completing her quest line,. decided to try flying her outside but apon chaning to a dragon she is refusing to fly but also the "ride" option just teleports me to one of her sides of her face and nothing happens.

it could possibly be something to do with the upgrade to AE that's fuck9ing up something

Should work with AE unless you have some SKSE requirements.  This mod does not require SKSE.

Can you make a papyrus log when this happens and post it for me?
